at first i was thinking pollard/gagnier, but now that i have thought about it i think gagnier is so much more tech and innovative. he wins.

pretty much everyone loves rodney mullen, nobody can say rodney mullen sucks, or he does gay tricks. but alot of people dont like gagnier's style and kinda rollerblade style tricks. thats why it should be someone like wallish, pollard, vanular, etc. cause pretty much everyone loves them and they are way more original with their tricks.

i really dont think those guys are all that creative, and even though not everyone might like gagniers style he is one of the most creative skiers i have seen

danny way of anything = mike wilson (guys fucking nuts). It was Candide back when he was clearing unthinkably big hips in ski movie 3...but wilson elded that fight.

its hard to get more creative than pollard, its pretty much impossible actually. gagnier is pretty creative, though he didnt invent the octograb, the only thing he has done thats creative is his wierd grinds, but nobody likes them, and its not that hard to think of those really since alot are very similar to rollerblade grinds.

no disrespect to tom here, he's a super nice kid and he kills it, but get off the kids nuts. rodney mullen's life has been skateboarding for longer than most everyone on this site has even been alive. there are very few people in the ski industry who have done as much for skiing as mullen has for skating.

Nobody compares to Rodney Mullen. Tony Hawk maybe a bigger name but Mullen is the true master of skating. A lot of great skaters invent tricks and then those tricks get figured out by others quickly. MAybe there are a few pros that have a trick that they can only do but not like Mullen. Mullen has so many tricks from ten years back that still havn't been repeated. The Pros can stare at it on film all they want but can not repeat what he has done and forgotten about. Mullen just moves on and keeps inventing. Some of gets repeated and a lot of it dosen't. His tricks are way to complex and he is way to skilled to compare him to anyone in skiing let alone skating it self. Ture master.

ANDY PERRY! at the point where he is now, yah hes not as big in the ski world as rodney is to skateboarding but stye wise hes so much like andy perry. rodney does a style of skateboarding that is so underground and orrigional call flatland... andy does rail tricks that he is nearly alone at doing and is super original. just style wise and wathing the things they do, theres no doubt andy is the closest in my mind

Charles Gagnier I have to say. He makes everything look so easy while keeping the difficulty high. For advancing skiing, Mike Douglas. He is so involved with skiing, although he is semi retired from skiing.

lets talk about this in 10 years.  perhaps that we might say someone like will wesson or andy parry.  the answer is NOT TOM WALLISCH.  not hating, and he is (gasp) the best pure park skier in the game right now, but he didnt invent jack shit.  i dont think pollard or pep, because mckonkey laid all the ground work for their ski developement. 

maybe its a big combo, we dont have one.  altogether:

mckonkey
pollard, pep
JF, JP, Dorion & douglas
parry & wesson

thats my list of people that together equal rodney mullen

this is why there are no rodney mullens in skiing, because of this way of thinking!! not trying to be mean to you, its just that this is basically everybodys thinking, including mine.

when a skier comes along that doesnt worry about limits and whats the norm, then we will have a rodney mullen.

so far the only skiers i can think of are
garret russel- cause he does his own thing, is crazy creative, and he's still young, when he's older and better hes gonna be crazy.
pollard- cause he is so innovative with new skis and ideas and backcountry skiing.
wallisch- cause of his pure technical skill, he doesnt have the creativity tho, atleast not yet.
max hill- cause everything i see of him is awesome and totally different, hes got the best style and its like the shifty master! just watch that new edit with him.
adam d- cause i could see him still killing it when hes like 50, and he's insane with butters and stuff.

so yeah basically skiing is too young right now, our oldest pro's are young as fuck, t-hall, candide, etc are like 25. where half of skatings pro's are above 30. when the top pro's stop worrying about winning every comp, and have another like 20 years to just chill and have fun, and get paid for it, then skiings gonna get crazy.
so basically we need old people, skiings just a bunch of little kids right now.

Agreed, no one is on Rodney's level.  If I was forced to throw a name out there, I might say Hornbeck.  His reverts, pressing in and out of jibs, nollies, etc. are all very tech.  I know other skiers are doing similar things, but I'd say he is combining those elements as good as anyone.

yeah more like 13 or so, maybe around 2000 is when people started to know it existed, it wasnt till like 02 or 03 till it could be considered a somewhat big sport. either way we are in the beginning stage, there is still a shit ton of stuff to be figured out. we dont have any pros that have devoted their life to newschool skiing, they all pretty much started with racing and moguls, and have been newschool skiing for like 8 or so years. when we got 40 year olds who started newschool skiing at like 10-15 and have devoted that 30 years to the sport, then we might have some mullens.

youve uncovered the biggest scandal in skateboarding.

rodney mullen did not 'invent' skateboarding in any way shape manner or form.  people dont realize that there were a hell of a lot of people who deserve much more respect that he does.  but since rodney was in video games, you automatically assume that hes the one and only.

how about the gonz, hosoi, marc johnson, keenan milton, ellington, danny way, jovantae turner, jason lee, gino iannucci?

those are skateboardings heroes.

and no, no one in skiing has shit on any of em.  not even close.

the next person to say charles gagnier deserves to get tea bagged. you cant compare a pro like mullen to any pro that has only been around for 5 years or less. the closest thing would be shane mckonky, because of the influence he has had on modern ski designs and, the length of his professional career. as for tricks mullen has invented it would have to be one of the new canadian air force that would be a comparison. mullen is the equivelent of a mckonkey/auclair/cussion/douglas combo
