If you can get old Look/Rossi bindings with the pivot heel do that. If not, I hate the track thing on the new PX's and shit. As much as I hate to say it, I think Salomon is getting better. I would get the Z12's.
are they stronger then 912s thoe??? cause when i weighd 110 and was 13 I broke the heel piece on both of my 912s (05/06 season)
but yeah dude if ur not a big guy they prob would be fine...give us ur weight, height, and ability to help the peeps out
I had the Z12 this year and they were pretty shit. broke the heel plate in both bindings and then finally ripped the rail off the heel piece. i just got pissed off with them and bought some Look bindings instead.
the heel pieces are just as shitty as 912's. if you're going to be charging at all, get the 914's instead. i have them and they have held up great for me. and you can find them for super cheap. i just sold a pair of brand new ones for like one hundred bucks or something.
Ya the S912's are pretty sick even though one of mine starting getting sloppy (it released way too much and felt just the slightest bit too loose) by the end of the season. The design however is sweet, so I'm sure the 14's would be sick and tougher. I haven't skied the Z12's but they are the only bindings my local shop will sell and I hear they are pretty awsome. I think the problem with most kid's bindings I hear about on NS isn't really the binding but rather how you mount them. Get someone who is experienced to mount them, bindings really shouldn't be ripping out after half a season or something. I almost got mine mounted at a local REI one season when I learned they had no skiers on they're staff. Get someone good to do it and yeah, def go with the 14's or Z12's.
I'm pretty sure no one should ever listen to you. Ever.
912s are shit, Z12s are shit, they are almost all plastic and will break piece by piece if you ski hard at all.
The issue of ripping bindings out is because you ski hard, most certified shops you take them to will mount them properly.
If you're going to get Salomon, get the 914 or better, or wait for the STH 12 to come out next year. It's based on the Z-series binding, but way beefier and better built.
I just dont understand it? What is with the industry trend to make shittier bindings? Salomon and Look/Rossi both got worse in the past 2 years. This is the rule:
"IF IT AIN'T BROKE, DON'T FIX IT"
I think it's absolutely hilarious that they make a binding and market it towards us, but then we go and buy a race stock, like the FKS 120 and 916.
in the salomon catalogue they dont have the 916s anymore. im not sure if they ever listed them though. they do have the sth16. plastic, but with steel skeleton type reinforcement
