New Direction of newschool skiing?

OK, first off: forgive me if this has been posted, I haven't been on NS much lately.

OK, so I just finished watching the new top rated video, BIG BEN PROMO 06-07. Sick. Don't know who the kid is, but he's sick. As I was watching, however, I realized that our skiing is turning more toward rails and technical box tricks. I like this, but it seems that skiing is almost becoming urban at the mountain, if you know what I mean. Personally, I would love more big jumps, but I know that many of you enjoy rails more. I just wanted to hear your input on this subject.

secondly hes from pennslyvania, not much but park there and he hasnt been skiing for long, i dont know if that answers your question or not

i'm not really sure where newschool skiing is going. will people somehow invent new ways or a new axis to spin on? new grabs will always be created, and in comps people are going to be going bigger and spinning more...i;'d like to see bigger but not really more spins. anything beyond a 10 i think is not necessary to win a comp. whatever.

rails are easier than jumps. and more accessible. with that said, i greatly prefer jumps. they're more exhilarating.

i think it's starting to be all about freestyle...i think everyone is forgetting freeriding. man when you can nail that perfect line of trees, or get through the bumps without a glitch, FLOAT through powder...is just as "orgasmic" as hucking yourself off jumps, getting those 5's down, or getting that rail just right.

newschool skiing is going more toward the BC actually, there are a ton of new BC freestyle skiers coming up, most are just unknown.
Rails and park are more accessible and rails are a lot easier to make therefore more people can do rails, and more people get really good at them.

That video shouldn't be that high on the top rated. It's just a bunch of kids freaking out because he does pretzels and a switch 10. He style is no where near what his video is getting rated. Although he does some sick shit, a good amount of it is him just hucking his body as fast as he can with his 160cm skis.

there is no real 'direction' of newschool skiing, in the true sence. if you are a true newschooler, a free skiier, then the direction is wherever you want to go, newschool has never been about following the crowed, you just gotta do what you want to do.
