A lot of accents are like that, listen to bands from like Sweden and Dutch countries even: Millencolin, Refused... can't think of anymore off the top of my head, Aussie bands too it seems like.

maybe singing has its own universal accent..and americans dont sound american when they sing...british dont sound british when they sing..etc. But were all used to hearing it that way, so it sounds normal.
