Ha, eff that!

I want a pair of the 614's for my JPs, but there ain't no way I'm paying that much for a Vist binding, especially when I just got FKS 155s for 149 + ship.

I'd say it's more than a preference. Unless your preference is to have inferior equipment...because the FKS is simply a better binding in every sense of the word.

dont even get me started on how much deadbolts surpass the quality and durability of fks....and to the guy above, absolutely not. deadbolts are one of the lightest bindings out there besides z12s which suck.

Why do you insist on defending the deadbolts to the death? You obvioulsy have them, so, ofcourse, your answers are bias. The deadbolts have had essentially one season to prove themselves, which, in my books in not nearly enough time.

It seems that they are strong, but by no means are lighter then the fks, nor surpass them in durrability:
FKS 120 -2.32 lbs
Deadbolt-2.65 lbs

They are even heavier than the Axial 120/Look Px12!
Axial/Px12-2.62 lbs
Deadbolt -2.65 lbs

The deadbolts are primarily plastic, while the FKS are mostly metal(heels on all are, toe is plastic on the 120). I will, however, give you credit on the brake system. The FKS brake is a pain to remove/bend, due to the fact it is built into the binding.

I have only heard of FKS ripping out, never a pair being broken, and, people are still riding the old TT9, and ZR's, from 10-15 years ago! Somehow, I dont think that a deadbold, even the 816, could hold up that long.

You can refute everything I say, but the facts stand. Your incorrect about the weight, but, the durrability is hard to determine, because the deadbolts have not been in circulation for long.

very true i have never heard of anything on fks/pivots/zrs/tt9 ever breaking besides the baseplates.
The 120s might be lighter then deadbolts but the 155s and 185s are way heavier. but i havent heard of much going wrong with deadbolts i just trust the the fks system more.

185s are actually 10 grams heavier than the deadbolt 614. that is like adding the weight of 10 paper clips.

I do have them, but have never ridden them. I am purely saying what I know from fiends, and the facts given.

In addition, lets let SAFETY play a role in this. Personally, NOTHING is safer than a pivoting heel.

Im not going to deny that, but there is a point where saving weight ultimately sacrificed durability. So far, I have seen 3 broken pairs of deadbolts this season, yet, over the past 4 or 5, never one broken fks binding. Amazingly, the fks are a tiny bit lighter than the deadbolts, but only by a few paperclips, not nearly enought to notice.

And really, the weight of you binding doesnt make a huge difference. That weight is under your foot, so it blends in with the weight of you body/legs. The only "weight" you should be concerned about it swing weight.

I forgot to ask, how big are you? (height, weight, what skis do you ride, what do you ride?)

alright then...well first of all. on ns, ive heard 3 people say they have had problems with deadbolts and 2 have them, saying theyve just been a defective pair and have gotten a warranty. me, personally, have broken a pair of fks 120s and fks 155s. the heelpiece pretty much ripped itself to pieces after a switch landing onto moderatly flat landing on the 120's. and on the 155's, the toepiece cracked in half, i dont know how, and made them unuseable. ive also had a pair of rossi axial 120 pivot heels and the same thing happened to them as they did with the 120's. ive also broken numerous pairs of breaks on all 3 sets. i swear my 614s were significantly lighter then my axials/155/120 but that might have just been a mind thing.so far ive had no problems at all with my deadbolt 614s to date. thats after a 70+ day season of heavy park riding and a bit of all mountain rideing. currently, i have my deadbolts on a pair of 07 invaders and i broke the 2 pairs of fks on an older pair of pe's and the axials on a pair or 1080's. im not that big, 5'7 130lbs. i ride very agressivly and mainly park, but i sometimes drift into the pow when there is some. both are good bindings, ive had more problems with the brake systems and the quality of the binding in general with fks/pivot heels then i have with my deadbolts so far. in my opinion, deadbolts are a more superior binding system.

my ass he did. fks own deadbolts in every aspect but brakes. honestly i dont believe you broke all those bindings. if you could break both fks 120 and 155s, then i really doubt youd be on invaders. pretty beginner/shitty ski in my opinion. point is i know people who fucking rip park and pow on fks and even the older pivots, and havent had breaking issues. and no offense, im pretty sure they are better/more agressive skiers than you. im not gunna drop any names.

There is NO way you cracked a 155 toe in half. Its all metal! Like was said, if you on invaders, I some how doubt that you are aggressive enough to do that much damage to a racestock binding.

yes invaders are pretty begginer/shitty ski but there extremly fun in park.thats what there made to be, a cheap,fun,inexpensive park ski. theres huge chunks out of my invaders and the tip of one is delaminating. and i almost guarantee you there are more agressive riders than me. i never said anything about there not being any.and i did kind of overexagurate that the toepiece cracked in half, but the the two pieces that move when you put your boot into it on the toepiece(dont know the name of it), one of them did crack and break off. no joke.

every pair of deadbolts that i have seen someone ski on for awhile has broken, in a matter of days. i have seen them break the first day of use. this totals up to about 7-8 pairs. i have seen ONE pair of p18s break...and it was gnarly as shit. but, i have seen at least 10 times more people riding on fks/p18s. deadbolts are terrible.
