so i tried this on the searchbar and people usually just talk about equipment. for people who have tried preffesional water ramps, what is the huckability? can you just toss your meat or do you have to sort of try to land feet first? also, is going in switch hard? im not that good at it on snow.
ya you tape up the ear parts of the helmet not your actual ear, cause otherwise if you fall real hard on the water with your open ear, the pressure will pop em and you'll bleed and it would end the huck fest
there are two real factors in water ramping
1. your body - how much punishment you can take - the faster you hit water the harder the water is, something like hitting watter at 30mph is like crashing into cement
2. your skis - use the water ramp's skis if you can not your own, or if you do use your own use old ones, old rock skis, it doesnt really matter as long as you're ready to part with them. when you land on your skis they absorb most of the impact and you can break them pretty easy, i've got 1/2 a binding at the bottom of SLC water ramps
thrift stores are my best friend for water ramping.. i just go to the d.i. (local chain of thrift stores in utah) and grab up as many skis as possible, usually they're about 10 or 15 bucks each, take off the old bindings, put a fiberglass topsheet on them for extra durrability then mount up some 14 din bindings then if they break who cares?? i just use the next pair.
