Salomon Foils VS Fischer Addicts

which is the better park ski. im 5'10 140lbs and am wondering which would be a better ski for me

i don't know much about the addict, but the foils are off the charts.  their flex pattern is damn near perfect, and the extra width underfoot is amazing for stomping the fuck out of turbo huge jumps.  they hold up really well too.  i used a pair very harshly for a whole season and the only thing wrong with them was an edge crack or two and some topsheet chips. 

like i said, i don't know much about the addicts so i can't really make a comparison, but that's my two cents on the foil.  compare that to whatever someone has to say about the addicts.

i havent skied them but ive skied the foils and they were possibly the worst skis ive ever ridden besides 1080s.
the addicts would feel way more solid and fun.

I ride the foils and they are definitely a good ski. I use them everywhere - in the park but I mainly ski glades (I live out east). I haven't ridden the addicts but I think it's desing is symetrical, making it much more park devoted than the foil. It also is wood cored and has a lot less side cut than the foil, making it probably more stable. If you want a really quick ski with perfect flex that can handle everything, go with the foil. If you want something that is probably ridiculously good in the park and more stable than the foil, try the addict. I think both were editor's pick in Freeskier this year.

of course everyone is going to say the foils becuase fisher olny releashed a small amount of addicts this year so harldy anyone has ridden them. My best freind has them and he absouluty loves them, great flex and a bunch of pop, and good for rails too. True twin shape

so why do the foils and 1080s suck? how are you justify this. Becasue when i think foil and 1080 i'm thinking of two of the most popular skis out there and i just can't comprehend how they suck so bad.

that is just how they felt to me compared to my fujatives.
too much sidecut
too light(foam core)
too stiff
small sweet spot
they would just bounce off of everything
they felt kind of dead
landing jumps was harder because of the weight
they felt hollow and wack

it felt like it was trying to be to many different types of skis. i think that the new woodcore thrusters on the otherhand would be a very nice ski, nice and damp and solid. i think that the 1080s were so popular because they were available everywhere and there werent as many options at the time.

foils chatter? i never had any issues other than one morning when everything was frozen solid because it had been hot the day before and then gotten really cold, but everyone was chattering that day so it wasnt the skis

foils...i have them best ski i have ever ridden they are mad fun so light good all around and they actually make a good carve. also they r good in the park. the foam core people make a way big deal about it...its just as good as wood cores iv ridden and they dont chatter much

i live in ohio.  not to be a dick or anything but there's this sweet thing called traveling.  i do it.  so does most everyone else on this site.  can i go fifty miles per hour at my home resort?  no.  can i go fifty miles per hour when i take my spring break trip to squaw?  most definitely.  some of the very best skiers come out of the midwest.  don't judge us on our geographical short comings.

im not trying to judge its just that ive skied the foils in many conditions and hated them and mabe since he live in chicago he didnt have the opportunity to ski in a variety of conditions do that so he couldnt test the ski to its fullest.
like i said im not trying to be a dick or piss anyone off that is just what could of happened

haha exactly i skiied them at steamboat and breck, and they ripped everywhere. as i said the only time they chattered was the day everything was frozen rock hard but hey, i saw people on race skis that were chattering that day

he knows whats up. i bet everyone who thinks the foils are way sick only say that because they have them and dont want to admit defeat for their own skis. addicts = mega sick skis because they have titanal under foot so you dont fuck your edges up on rails as much and they have some mad popability's. foils are all chattery and my friend bought a pair and ended up using them as rock skis because they were poo

Last year, I decided to buy myself a pair of Addicts after having Foils. Best decision I have ever made. I instantly started using my foils as rock skis and I recently purchased next years Addicts.

There is no comparison. The Addicts absolutely KILL the Foils.

i can't believe this is even a thread. first off he asked which is a better park ski, and that's obviously the addicts, saying they're symetrical and built with reinforced edges to withstand rails, not to mention they are not foam core (which is damp and unresponsive, aka no pop). secondly even if he did ask about all mountain performance, the addict still kills the foil. if you read everything by people who have skied both, they always say addicts, the people who say foils haven't skied asddicts, and more than likely any other twin tip. if you're looking at salomon, look at dumonts, they're the best twin in solly's lineup (and gun labs).

the foils suck in the durability (foam sucks inside skis) and will be shot after one year of moderate to hard riding

umm, no, the foils snap, and the edges break, the only thing that might be more durable is the topsheet, which doesn;t matter anyway.
