Alright..... Maybe you guys can help me. I'm tryin' to rip up to Hood on July 6th - 11th. I know the Burton ASJ comp starts the 10th. Practice for slopestyle is on th 9th from like 1:30 - 4 or something, then the actual comp is on the 12th.
All I need to know is if the park will be closed the days prior to that, or the morning on the 9th, etc. I don't want to fly to hood all the way from Indiana just to find out that that public park is closed for build starting on the 6th or something. I called T-line and asked numerous people, and left a few messages but get no legit answer.... ever. If you guys know anything, or could even just ask someone on the park staff or something that would be dope. PM me or post in here if you find anything please.
Yeah. I'm gonna wait until I know 100%. I'm flying standby with a buddy pass so it's not going to be expensive, but I would be pissed if I couldn't shred. If someone can ask someone working in the park or something that would be awesome.
Jumpline is sick as fuck. 3 nice sized tables that are shaped very well with long landings.
Halfpipe is also dope right now, was pretty big when i first got there and was melting fast :(
There was a flat down box right before the first hit in the jump line that was a dope little setup feature for the jump. There is a dope jump after the halfpipe as well as a snow column jib that is sick after the jump. In my opinion, they could setup more jibable features :), alot of the shit they had seemed to cater to snowboarders heh
From the looks of it, the snow is melting fast so I would get up there sooner rather than later. I have no idea about the competition thing though im not a local.
If there is anyway you can change your flight, you should try to come in after the Burton comp.. I believe they pretty much just leave the park as is after the comp. Soo the park would be a whole lot bigger and better.
Damnit. I can't come in after the comp though. The only dates that will work are pretty much the July 6 - 11. Do you guys know if any of the park crew is on NS. I still haven't gotten a 100% definite answer of when the park will be closed. thanks yo.
this will make more sense if you've been to hood before:
The park on Otto's lane is going to be gone within days (the sick jump line that conceptkid was talking about). Then the park will be in the mile canyon (where the pipe is), it will likely be small, the pipe will be complemented by 3-4 rails and one or two jumps. They will keep this park until after the snowjam, when the slopestyle course will become the public park.
So yes, there will be a park open during the snowjam, just not a particularly good one.
Try to come up the week after the snowjam
actually don't, stay away
it was closed for all three days of the comp last year, though if you know the park guys, or the girl the park guys are knocking boots with they'll let you in. actually i remember it was open for the afternoon of the first day after the oficial practice, but then close the middle day to everyone but park crew and competitors (unless you have one of the said connections).
Dude I slept way in today... I've been slacking like a mofo
And I have to fucking work tomorrow!
Hopefully Thursday and Friday, I need some fucking exercise
