I went to a strip club called Queen's once and, ironically, i saw a stripper there who was actually my grade 12 english teacher who gave me a 69 in the class, thus preventing me from getting into my school of choice, Queen's. True story.
At first i though you meant she 69'd you in the class and i was thinking that that was such a huge claim. After re-reading i realized what realy happened.
I went to private school. I am rich and arrogant (see?) and I didn't end up going to Queens. I went to Carleton instead. Huge mistake! I ended up at Saint Mary's in Halifax. If you're a drunk, you should consider going to school there. The school bar sells $10 pitchers of keiths.
don't tell him to shut up, he's right. I'd say almost half of queens is like that, even more so if you're going into commerce. Just try to chill with that "other half" and you won't obsorb the arrogant prick attitude. There are some really cool people here too
If you're a guy, the good news is most of those rich arrogant kids have never been in a fight before, so just kick their asses if they're mouthing. They're usually so shocked after the first punch they don't even know what to do!
its not like what i said is totally unfounded. my brother went to private school here in toronto (crescent), so he had to deal with that kind of shit constantly, and where do the majority go? queens or western. you don't even go there yet, so i must have struck a chord somewhere. listen to sean.
I've heard this same thing from a girl I went to highschool with a couple of years ago who now goes there.
It's a "super snobby fashion show". There's also apparently a lot of racism and seperation; asian people only talk to asian people, etc, etc.
Of course Its a massive generalization, but you must admit, especially if you've actually attended university, that different schools have different general atmospheres.
But hey, if your the kind of person thats never paid for a thing in your life, and feeds thier self worth off of popularity, you might just fit right in.
haha your a rutherford. i knew your brother, is everything good with his jaw? i went to school with him. anyways i think at queens more people are arrogant then spoiled. but ya i have to agree with you, its not unfounded. i just think that its unfair to generalize an entire school.
and yea i guess you're right about generalizing a whole school, but i just go on what i hear. you're gonna find that shit everywhere, but queens is mentioned more often then not when discussing that topic.
but they all aren't like that, lots of chill well off kids, but usually the chill ones come from families with old money or their parents made it a point to teach their kids the virtue of modesty.
i can think of douche bags at my university, one dude wears a ferrari jacket and drives an imported rhd 300zx TT....in an automatic!!!! fuck!
i happen to remember you spooning with a bubba keg in nate's room. then there's the night in tremblant when you somehow managed to shower the ceiling of the hotel room in beer.
let us not for get the incident in the oasis with you wearing a combination of nate and jeff's clothing and you trying to pick up to girls while completely shitfaced!!
It's funny how the people ripping Queens are/went to Carleton and Trent. Oh shitt,, now my rich arrogance is kicking in!!
A lot of what you guys call arrogance is just our pride for our school. We have a ton of school spirit, and think very highly of our school. This dates back through the history of Queens pretty much. Arent you guys proud of where you went to university?
Girls in $600 outfits ripping on other girls because they are wearing last years shoes is being misconstrued for school pride? What people are talking about is in reference to individualistic ideals and behaviour.. not the respect one has for thier school. Go spend a weekend at Laurier - They have a massive amount of pride, but the people are chill as fuck - and I say that in an unbiased manner as I don't even go there.
Are you just making up that little story? Absolutely no one I know that goes to Queen's could even fathom doing something like that. If this is a real story, you must have been hanging out with one seriously whack crowd. And as you already mentioned, it's a massive generalization.
I've visited friends at University of Ottawa and Carleton and saw no difference in how they acted in comparison to Queen's students. Seems to me you just had a bad experience here and now assume the entire 15000 or so students are like this too?
And Ryno, there's nothing wrong with Carleton or Trent. They just don't seem to have a very good reputation for certain academic programs (seriously low entrance mark standards is a big hint)
and PS, start up a "Queen's sucks" thread or something if you want to bash. It's pretty obvious there's a lot of hate out there for Queen's from other University students which I don't quite understand. But anyways... I beleive the topic here was asking if anyone went or is planning on going to Queens??
you kids should stop bitchin bout queens, thats pretty weak. its a great university, has a great community that is quite unlike anything else found in canada and that is what makes it unique, bascially. whats wrong with girls dressing up? i like girls that dress up and care abut how they look, dont you? if i wasnt so in love with skiing i would probaly go there, damn it would be fun! i have visited there and its just like any other school just smaller.
Queens and Western are both known for Snobby girls and the whole "too good for you" vibe. Where if you dont fit the mold your not part of the clique! That is what I hvae seen and experinced...
as for Brock... its a chill school a very active school in athletics, community involvement, and charity support. Not my favourite school I have been too.... but its pretty chill!
my brother went to laurier, so did his freind
my family is very well off, but nothing compared to the majority of people there.
his buddy was in a room with some arabic people who were like insainly loaded. like 2 mercedies in the parking lot. they made him feel like a complete outcast. he said that it was totally impersonal and he couldnt even talk to the rich people because they would just ignore him
what im sayin is its likely all the same.
The fact is no matter where you go you are going to find a different atmosphere and everyone's situations differ. Some people like different things then other people. That is what makes the world work, and maybe at times, not work. All these schools are great, some people just have different likes than other people
