I wish they would delete the truly pointless and destructive threads about any trends, outerwear, and what other people are wearing/using.

I really hate where the non-skiing side of skiing is going. Do you really give a fuck if Vanular is using Salomon? Are you his team manager? mommy? team mate? No? Then worry about other shit.

Threads about equipment should only be reviews or requesting reviews, cost, and where shit is available. Everyone hates on the "will theses skis work for me threads" while they are the only legit ones out there. It is not healthy to be worrying about whether or not you should get this years ar6 vs next years because you are indecisive about the graphics.

There should be more trick tips, tales of sick days, people looking for homies to ski with, and shit like that.
Why is everything so much about trends and others opinions? It really makes everyone appear lame and poser-ish.

Let your style be what it is, don't try and duplicate everyone elses. Worry more about where a snow storm is heading than what the cool colour will be next year.

People shouldn't give a fuck about the industry unless they are actively in it.

Then again if you force something it might not work out so well. I love ns, but it is extremely gay as well. Go ahead and look down the thread topics. Can you sleep if you don't read about half of them?

I knwo you will say you can just scroll past them. I usually do, but I don't want to see shit do this way. Then again, ns skiing is still adolescent, it will grow up soon and people will do it for the love and not for the image.

Please mods, at least delete some of that garbage

Over the winter everyone cried about how sucky NS was moderated. Now people are pissed that mods are doing their job and keeping the site well organized and clean.

Whether you like it or not, NS is obsessed with style.  Clothing, skiers, trick - its all fair game. Its what NS has always been, superficial and immature on the outside, but with a small fragile core of dedicated, accepting and passionate skiers who could care less. I say let it stay as it is. If you crave strict forums not centered on the 'teenage' movement of skiing, try TGR. Lots of members use both to find their happy medium.

if people didnt try to look like pros and buy shit cuz they wore it then there wouldn't be pro skiers. the whole reason they get paid and hooked up with gear is to show it off and get people to buy it. THIS is a pointless thread.

why does it bother you so much? seriously, I don't like most of those threads either, but if everyone started deleting these threads, it would be nazi-ish. Some people care about that part of skiing, just because you don't doesn't mean you get to complain about it.
These boards are for EVERYTHING skiing, including trends, so get over it and stop whining.

i dont really care,I wasn't crying and I normally woudlnt concern myself about others, but once in a while you get a little itch. Ya know, hoping for the betterment of mankind and all that bullshit, just on a smaller scale. maybe bring to some peoples attentions that their lives are shallow or they are acting like goons. I thought people might appreciate more talk about skiing and all the fun they are having and less about mikaels underwear brand of choice. I couldnt care which way it goes. I will be here regardless, I was just throwing a thought out there.

Wasnt hating on the mods, just calling out to them. and you wouldnt have looked at the thread if i didnt call them nazis

i don't know but i've had a few of my threads deleted and posts deleted that i deem perfectly acceptable. i'm fine with the mods deleting them because it is their discretion and we have to accept that. but if the mods could maybe send a pm giving a quick explanation for the deletion that would be awesome

Good lord, do you know how much stuff gets deleted on this website on a daily basis? Maybe if the members posted 97% less trash there might be time to message the poster every time we deleted something, but as it is, you'll just have to assume your post was deleted because someone thought it was too idiotic to remain.

That's what NS is. No matter how much it can be annoying sometimes I enjoy reading some kid getting bashed. "People shouldn't give a fuck about the industry unless they are actively in it." That's really dumb, the industry is all skiing. Just because I'm not a rep doesn't mean I shouldn't concern myself with the industry. I suggest you revise your rant.

the industry drives itself. I own my own company. Then I make the products, market them to myself, and then buy my own products to make me money so I can make me some more products to sell to myself. It turns out that NOBODY actually buys anything in the real world, you're all ROBOTS!

Caleb, rule number one on NS is that unless you know who that weird screen name with all the numbers at the end is, you never know who you might be talking to. Like now, for instance. So just in case, be respectful in your disagreements, or, if you can't, keep your fucking internet mouth shut. Otherwise you're just another trolling teenager trying to feel big online, and we both know you don't want to be like that.

Your idealism is touching and you have a right to your opinions, but don't think you know it all, because guy has a point on this. Skiing is a fashion show, a gossip-mongering convention, a noun and a verb all at the same time and sometimes it gets... sickening is putting it very mildly. Like the no poles thing. Ski how you want or whatever, but Jesus, it's not the "cool thing to do" just because Pep and Andy and Wallisch and Pete Hunter do it. Are you them? No. Ski like you want and quit being a fanboy. When I mentioned those checkout-line gossip mags earlier there was a reason: it's the same principle, if you want the inside scoop on the industry when your only real part in it is feeding the cash, you're no better than those mouth-breathing 40something idiot women who shell out for the Star Weekly to hear the "Shocking Scandal" about "Brad and Angelina"... yeah, because you're totally on a first name basis with them, Norma Jean from Idaho. If you're really that interested in who Pep is dating, you're basically the skiing equivalent of Norma Jean. And that's really pretty lame.

Now that being said, it's never going to stop with these kids any more than Entertainment Tonight is going to get dropped for low ratings, and maybe when you take a look at the balance of the big picture, that's a good thing. Kids obsessing over every tiny detail probably means more money into the sport, because as Caleb indicates, Brian, it's not the people who pro deal skis every year and get free custom fit surefoot boots who put what little money those "people in the industry" get into their pockets, it's the 16 year old who gets his mom to buy him new Armadas because he things the graphic is cool and dreams of being another TJ Schiller (OMG do you remember that Anjelica N thing? GROSS I CANT BELIEVE HE DATED HER LOL).

It's like Whistler: hate the tourists, hate the infrastructure, but they're where the money comes from that let you shred gaper day today.

But then again what do I know... I'm not in the industry. Thank God.
