That and image is alot. If your some kid that everyone at your hill knows and you have a 3 foot blue mohawk your more likely to get sponsored simply becuase you get more attention.

what tricks you can do is such a little part of being sponsored. i mean, it does help to have tecnical tricks, but if you just do them, and dont compete, or do anything for exposure, then they are no good. sponsors are out to promote their company, and if they feel that you would do a good job, then they will most likely sponsor you. working with a photographer that sends photos to magazines on a regular basis is always a plus.

OK, Coming from me, Cody from SECTION SIX CLOTHING. I received about my 50th request for sponsorship this week. I'm gonna give you the real deal with sponsorship:


NUMBER 1: Don't ask for a sponsorship. Show off a lot, go to contests, make yourself look good and most of all show your support for the company by wearing/using (and paying for) their stuff. After that, if your good enough, they will give it to you free and you won't have to pay. I hate nothing more then someone who first learns about section six and then that same day asks for a sponsorship. They want free stuff before they even know what we deal in or if it is even a good product. The number one reason people ask for a sponsorship is so they can go home and tell all their friends that they are sponsored now, trust me I've done it before. Hell if it was like that, any new school skier in the world can go home tonight and tell their friends that they ride for SECTION SIX. Then you could call me up and place an order for a few items, tell your friends that I gave them to you for free and hell! Instant sponsorship! Ain't that cool and easy? Sure as hell saves me some time!


NUMBER 2: Video, NO VIDEO? NO SPONSORSHIP! It all comes down to that. If your really that good at your sport then you probably own a digi, that's great, send her on down to us along with some magazine articles or contest placings and we will check it out, If you've got the potential then WE WILL CALL YOU! It's that easy. But ya back to the number one rule, buy and wear the companies clothing first, understand the company and the owners, know that it's a good product and you want it on your back, make the company happy by wearing it. Trust me If I was on the chairlift with a pro rider. Never heard of sectionsix but was interested in FREE STUFF and then there was a kid that had nice equipment super good attitude, listened to punk rock on his Minidisc on the way down and all out ripped it up. all while he was sportin his section six shirt and toque which he ordered or bought from us. I would sponsor the kid and not the other guy in a second! And the kid didn't even ask! See it's just like that, dedication and attitude, then comes the money and the chicks.

actuly jamie wouldn't it be stupid for me to go and buy all sessions gear then ski in it, then ask them for a sponsorship? if I was sessions I owuld just kinda laugh because they are already representing my product and unless they were insainly good I would pass on them. It sounded like you were just trying to sell session six stuff.

SPONSORSHIPS WILL HAPPEN if they are suposto. Even then don't take everyone that comes your way. There are clauses involved in most contracts with sponsorships, spoken or unspoken, the company will expect you to do certain things. Make/be in movies, get in magazines, compete at major events, travel, be seen, be nice... You're going to represent there company in your region so you mine as well be nice about it. Stop whining about not being sponsored or wanting a sponsor. In time you will be noticed for the talent you have and might then get sponsored.
