so im welding a steal bar rail in school, almost done, my tech teacher says it would be a good idea to paint the surface of the steel so that the paint will go into the pores of the metal and prevent rust, my question is will i be able to slide on a painted rail? obviously at mountains the paint has been chipped off over time, good idea or bad idea? thanks
i would say no, it will be really sticky at first and to prevent rust just bring it inside when ur done or just buff the rust off every once in a while
i built a rail in metalshop and painted it and it slid perfectly fine this whole winter. plus it keeps rudt off. just put a little bit of snow or water on it before and it will be prime
so im welding this rail in tech class and the metal is slightly rusted, so my teacher wants me to spray on this rust killer/ paint primer before i paint it, once i paint i intend to sand the paint off, will i be able to sand away the primer/ will it kill the slidability of the steel? thanks
