Divorce

Ok long story short my parents are getting a divorce. I'm just wondering if when you get divorced you go to court and split up everything you own?

As far as I know yes, unless your parents signed a pre-nuptiual agreement (which means that if there is a split, there is no splitting of the ownership, rather its take what is yours).  Thats rough though man, but it happens.  Dont let it hold you back if they go through with it.

ya thats shitty but i have alot of friends who went through divorces and they all ended up fine, just take it like a champ and keep ur head up

i dont know bout where u live, but here in michigan the dad ALWAYS get screwed over. its totally bias but like i said idk bout where u live. and yea, all ur shit gets spit up and the worst part is one of your parents will have to buy out the other parents half of the house. otherwise, both of your parents will have to move into other homes. its total bs

Yeah I live in Ohio, and either way I'm pretty sure my dad is fucked (which I'm glad about). He's an alchoholic (went to rehab once, still drinks) and he had a kid with some whore he met in highschool about 6 years ago. I don't think this is a regular divorce because my dad came out and said he hates me, wants to disown me, and is one of the main reasons they're getting divorced.

Yeah my parents just spilt up about 4 months ago. Even though my dad lives like 5 minutes from me it could be as much as a month till the next time I see him. But yeah depending on what state your in and what they decide on it could be that. I know with my folks it was, put down on the contract everything you want. Either take it or its not yours. But yeah youll be just fine. If anything itll be better around the house. Dont worry

Yeah but still I have no idea when hes off of work and comes home. He said he was packing his shit and leaving today but he hasn't so I'm sure as soon as he gets home the shits going to hit the fan.

I find getting out of the way and having no reason to get yelled at is a good tactic. Call him up time to time and ask him when he is off and such

Lol I'd never call him, I'm pretty sure we are beyond speaking at this point and I just hope he moves today, the anxiousness of him coming home is almost enough to make me sick.

Yeah its pretty much my whole family against him at this point, and hes too stubborn to want to change. My worst fear is he decides he doesn't want to move then its going to get alot messier.

Best of luck man, one of my friends is going to through the same thing right now. He hates his dad who is an alcoholic and addicted to pain meds. I feel incredibly fortunate that I love both my parents.

my folks split and it was pretty messy court wise.
it didnt end for maybe 4 years. it ended up good for me because i changed from a minor to over 18 half way through so i didnt need to go through custody battles and stuff but in my opinion just be chill dont piss anybody of its thier problem not yours let them deal with it the last thing you want is to get in the middle of it all.

that sounds really bad, ya same situation with me happened but my parents arnt getting devorced, but like 5 months ago i tried to set up my trampoline(which my mom is strongly against) and she freaked out, told me she hated me, and that I alone was the reason for my parents devorce... soo jea

its not like your dad gets one of your skis and your mom gets the other if you mean they split your belongings. but whatevers belongs to you is yours and you can put it where ever you want
