Candide Thovex is a french super star. A pro skier who’s life has always evolved around the sport of skiing [and always will]-eliminate this, its predicting the future like its a statement. Growing up in the french alps, it can’t be very hard to become connected the mountains. An athlete that grew up with Mont. blanc, the tallest mountain in europe, in his backyard. Candide Thovex was born in La Clusaz, France on May 22nd 1982. He learned to ski in the Arivas region of the french alps, in a small town called la clusaz [dont repeat, say its a small town the first time, and maybe say his hometown or something]. This is where he began to gain national popularity and perfect his big air [big air sounds a lil hokey, maybe just skiing skills] skills. Candide slowly began gain popularity in 1998 when he placed fourth in the X games big air competition [when unknowns pop up and place in the x games, its not usually a slow rise to fame, so maybe: with a 4th place finish at the 1998 x games, candides name was suddenly on the map, blah blah blah]. This is one of the biggest and most intense competitions [in the world]. It is also an invite only.
After Candide placed well in the X games he traveled to Utah and filmed with one of the top film makers named Kris Ostness. Candide stunned everyone by being the first skier ever to clear the infamous Chad's gap [im almost certain he wasnt the first person to clear it. i COULD be wrong, tho, just make sure to look into it]. An alta local named Chad Zurinskas had made the hike to the 120 foot gap the previous season. Candide convinced Kris Ostness to make the hike with him and film him hitting the jump. Candide not only cleared the gap, but did multiple tricks off it also. The movie skyrocketed his career, and he would soon expand his horizons to France [worldwide superstardom or something, hes already well known in france at this point].
In 2000 Candide won the X games big air [maybe talk about the tricks he did to win, same thing on the chads gap thing, itll give you some more to talk about IE, with a d-spin 720, an off-axis flip with two full rotations]. [He was offered many spots in many different ski movies since then.-eliminate this sentence] Candide has appeared in eight Teton gravity research movies, 7 poor boyz productions movies, and multiple appearances in many other movies [you say movies too many times, film, production, video, etc]. All of this attention in the U.S. brought Candide national stardom in his home country of France.[like i said before, you say national stardom real early in the paper, but then go and say he becoma efamous after the US, just make sure you dont contradict yourself]
In more recent news [years], Candide has started [up -delete] his own film company called WW films. Candide also received the highest score ever given in the 2007 winter X games slopestyle competition, [which he obviously won- rephrase here, maybe say highest winning score or something, instead of saying he obviously won]. He also has his own invitational contest in La Clusaz every year.

The Candide Invitational is an event dedicated to freestyle back country [its not BC, its a massive terrain park he designs]. Candide wanted a [an event] competition that was very relaxed and far away from the stress of competition. [ this part needs rewriten, its Every year this competition falls on the date of March 31st and April 1st every single year, for the past three years. One of Candides big competitors named Jon Olsson holds an invitational in his home town of Are, Sweden on the same date every year [its not always on the same day, just this past year]. This gives both athletes less people to invite. It’s always a battle to see who will come. Though most athletes will attract to Candide’s event because of the relaxed atmosphere and the great concerts. Candide is so famous that his hometown ski resort (La Clusaz) holds this competition for free every year. Along with having his own Competition, starring in over 25 ski movies, winning the X games in all three categories, and being a french Icon this is a fragment]. ok, so theres my read through it. overall, its a pretty good paper presuming your in middleschool or something. the first half is really pretty good, just some lil suggestions in there. the second half is obviously rushed, and if its for english your teacher will tear you apart. go back and rewrite and reread it. good luck
