Good schools

Hey guys i'm starting to look into colleges, and I was wonder which school would be relatively close to ski resorts but still strong academically. I definitely would rather have a good school thats a little far from a mountain than a shitty school thats right next to one. I'm doing pretty good so far in high school, i'm a sophomore (my gpa is like 3.5, not really sure). What schools do you guys recommend?

yeah i searched about colorado college cause it seems like a good school and got some info about it. The block schedule seems cool but people said that the colorado springs is a crappy place, and its kind of small.

go with CU boulder over CC more fun, better atmosphere, CUFST, flat irons, boulder parties, fox & boulder theatuer have good concerts, ski movie premiers throughout the fall, jibij, hot girls, not colorado springs...

its pretty difficult to get into. they don't look at much else than solid sat scores, high gpa, and it would be best to be skilled in math and/or science. but if you can get in, then montreal is such an amazing city that is pretty close to a lot of good skiing for the east coast.

UW is one of the best out there. Especially for medicine it is in the top 10, and overall it is a really great underrated school. Plus Alpental BC is only 45 minutes away, or Central if you're digging the park. Really the best for BOTH skiing AND academics, imo.

unh is 2 hours from loon and waterville. plymouth state is less than a half hour from both

yeah it is. if youre looking into canada go for UBC then youve got whistler not too far off. i got in this year and decided to go to UVM for now. i might transfer out for my 3rd year if i get into the program i want. UVM and burlington are pretty damn good for me though so who knows. whatever happens happens.

whats DU? And yea, whats been said pretty much. I tell you east coast cause thats what im familiar with. Middlebury, dartmouth, uvm, colby, bates, bowdoin, unh (although im not sure how close it is to skiing)

i went out to vail and then checked out cu boulder in febuary, it was such a sick campus. I would def go there but its like 40K a year so i dont think i could afford it. But the campus and acedmeics are sick. And they have weekly trips to copper and a basin. Def a sweet deal

almost every big school will have some kind of program. Business is really easy to find at colleges, so that keeps most of the options open

yea if you plan on going for business you can go pretty much anywhere. I had to be super picky for looking at schools. Most schools near ski resorts dont have great engineering programs, but i found one and im happy now

Montana state university, university of utah, university of nevada at reno, university of california at davis/santa barbara, sacramento state, [schools in north west can be close to scattered good mountains] aka. univ. oregon, univ. portland, washington state, univ. washington.. etc....

are you serious?

First, evergreen sucks as does Olympia.  Not a very good education.  Lots of good drugs though.

Second, Baker is pushing 4 hours from Olympia.  I am in Tacoma, 30 minutes North of Olympia, and it always takes me over 3 hours.

If you want a school close to Baker, Western Washington is about an hour away up in Bellingham. 


To the kid who started the thread, search and see what people have said in the past. There are a lot of threads about it.

You really can't go wrong with most of the schools. Just find the one that fits you best.

The ones I would look at:
MSU, CU, UU, UW, CC, UM, WWU, L&C, Reed, UP, UPS, PLU, SU, SPU, SFU, UBC, UNR, UC-Davis

ya its tough, at my school we have this thing called "choices" and it has like 7000 schools in it and you search and narrow it down to choose the ones that best fit what your looking for. and one of the options was difficulty, and McGuill was in the second most difficult school to get into

university of colorado for sure. i love everything about it, except the out of state tuition, but you said money isnt an issue. boulder is great, the skiing is only an hour and a half away, and you cant go wrong with breck and keystone if you ski park at all.

plus, you said youre interested in possibly doing business, and leeds (the university of colorado business school) is one of the best public school business programs in the nation.

I'm going to UW next year, trying for a science/medical degree.
definetly a good school close enough to alpental, stevens and baker for me.
Average GPA for incoming class is 3.75ish though...so def. keep your grades up
