How do they compare?

I was talking to my local ski tech about bindings and the topic about new freestyle skis came up. He reffered to Armadas and Lines as boards and i was better off to to 2by 4's and mount them to my feet.He also said that their technology isnt nearly where Companies such as Salomon and elan are. Now of couse i did not pay much attention to this becuse i know Lines and Armada are good freestyle skis, he is a racer type of deal so he thinks its his way or the highway. Anyways i thought i would bring this to newschoolers.
Are companys like Armada and line still not caught up to Salmon and them? Or are they better because they focus mainly on freestyle?

Personally, I can't stand riding salomon skis, they just have such an unpleasant feel I couldn't care less how much technology they have.

agree with you, what i am saying is not nessesisarily is the tecnology better but does the technology make it a better ski.

personally, i like the way my pipe cleaners ride as opposed to my 190 rossi gs skis. and i can do a whole hell of a lot more on the pipes.

Guy doesn't know, uh, shit.

Every 40+ year old I know that skied our demo ARVs loved them. Women loved the AR6 as an allmountain/pow ski (because it's a little narrower).

Technology is a funny thing. It's easier to sell a ski with tons of shit on/in it, but does it work better? Example A: Atomic Metrons. Yay, tons of tech! You wanna put those on your feet? Didn't think so.

You can fake it all you want with ski tech. But if you don't have your basics right, core, fiberglass, epoxy, bonding, pressing, topsheets, edges, then your ski is going nowhere.

very true. I think if most of the public tried the softer to middle flex twins they would LOVE the pop and how they feel. I personally prefer my twins over most carving skis because I feel they are better skis on the entire mountain than something with a 14 m turning radius and no switch ability.

Don't worry about the guy at your shop. Again, he doesn't know anything. The technology and ruggedness of some of the Armada skis is easily on par with most top of the line hard-pack skis. Even if it wasn't - is that going to stop you from riding? ;)

Who were you talking to? Let me guess, Donnie from the Outside store? That asshole banned me from his shop, over a set of brakes I refused to pay for. Looks like I might have to go out of town to get my FKS bindings mounted on my ar6's

i work at a shop and alot of the guys are like that. ive had to enlighten them a bit.

Personally, I think Armada is AHEAD of rossi, solly, and elan. My Scratch pros blew, 3 cracked edges in a season, adn tonnes of coreshots. My t-halls were a defect pair, no edge cracks, no coreshots, and a sick warranty system that got me free skis.

nooo, dont get the 07 ones. I want to be the only guy with them. Get the 08 ones. Uh, tyson just sent me them. I asked for t-halls, but they sent those.
By the way, what ski tech did you talk to?

What are you talking about? Have you ever rode an Elan ski? Probably not. I rode MO2's and they were just as solid as my t-halls, as a matter of fact, they held up a bit better.

What a tit. Salomons are the worst of the whole bunch. I bet he's a Salomon rep. I hate talking to those guys about skis.

I'd agree about Line, I still don;t think their materials are up to par with other brands. The new sidewall models look pretty solid though. As for Armada, the lack of a mounting plate is their only slight weakness (not that I've heard of many Armada bindings ripping out), so whoever mentioned P18s on AR6s, epoxy those in! Elan makes Armada's skis, so that comment is BS.

armada is on par with most big name companies...line not always. however i agree i dont like salomon skis much at all. i really like rossignol tho, theyre my crew...

some big companies understand twins, K2 for instance, i was on scratches for a couple seasons before this past year and didnt know what good twins felt like then went to fujis this year and was blown away, then at the end of the season rode next years scratches a couple times and wanted to shoot myself.
