I'm thinking about getting one of these, but I was wondering what you guys thought. I need a new bike for urban/dirt jumping. I work at a bike shop that carries Kona, DiamondBack, Jamis, and Santa Cruz, so out of those, I am leaning towards the Jackal. Any thoughts?
^there's no giant where he works...
To answer your question I tried last year's Jackal and it's an awesome bike for sure. Or you could always go in kona's dirtjump bikes, but personally I'd be leaning towards the Santa Cruz.
well honestly not to be a dick but for the money you can get much better bikes than the bikes they have where you work... ive never ridden one so i cant say but honestly i hate the look of the jackal geo that upsweep thing on the tt... i would go for like a kona cowan if you had to pick but for the money you can get much better look into like the eastern 26 night train, transition trail-or-park, scott voltage if you really need a complete thats good stock
the thing is konas really arent that good for the money. like i said before there are a lot of small companies that make sick bikes. if you have the option of bulding up a frame, your possibilies in the $1500 or less range are endless.
-eastern 26 DJ4 frame ($375 i think)
-eastern night train complete ($999)
-transition trail-or-park (frame or complete, prices vary you can pick what fork, frame is $379 i think)
-dobermann pinscher frame ($500)
-black market riot frame ($300?)
-black market mob frame ($600)
-scott voltage completes (varying prices/models)
the rocky mountain flow dj at $1500 is probably the best value complete dj/street bike youll ever find.
any of teh bikes listed would be a thousand times better than the jackal and more bang for your buck than a kona.
yea, get a doberman bike if you have the chance. Last summer I visited their factory and the guys there work really well and love what they do. Plus it's from Québec! ;)
