the val park is getting better and better, the skiing in espace killy is arguably the best in europe, val is the best town in europe ski wise, never been to america but if i was to do a season without doubt it would be in val
for more info and contacts speak to rastafarider, hes just done a season there
General. I'm getting a worried feeling in the pit of my stomach. The only reason I can think of why you'd be comparing these resorts is that you intend to blow 8 grand on either Ski Le Gap in Tremblant or Basecamp in Val. This is 8 gs for 3 months, a pretty meaningless qualification, 4 grand on top for living costs and a wasted season. Trust me, the basecamp guys are to be seen learning the perfect snowplow techniques on the best pow day of the season.
I implore you to ditch any ideas of doing this. Why not get a job in Val, get paid to ski for a season, get far better than you would on these courses, and have a sick time. I promise you you'll wanna quit the course after a week which would be a waste of money anyway.
In conclusion therefore...
1] Val d'Isere no question.
2]Ditch the Basecamp idea
3]Do a real season and have the best 5 months of your life.
If I am wrong and you just wanna go on holiday, the same applies.
ah! it was only gonna be a matter of time before michael got involved in a euro ski resort thread! good hustle everyone i think we have saved mr general from a fate worse than death! high five!
jus sayin wer i go, which is a small place you pretty much ski straight onto the lift-go up-ski down.
much more skiing done that way and its generally better quality -pow less tracked-piste stays courdory for longer
just my personnal opinin so quit the insults
saint foy only has 3 lifts or so, you must get bored going up and down the same runs all day, having said that the bc run over the back from the third lift can be pretty sick, when you go through peoples gardens at the bottom. how much development is going on there, i hear that they are building loads of chalets and shit there.
yeh i hear alot of people there for a week saying theyve already skiid the place out, but theres actually alot of sick stuff to do as only a small percentage of the area is pisted which makes for alot of offpiste to play around with. and the bc routes round the back are so good. a park would be nice but you can find alot of kickers lying around.
lots of apartments going up, in fact my rents bought one so i guess that makes me a little biased towards the resort but it is a sweet place once you get to know it.
