My iPod is full. what do i do now?

basically music is my religion i have a 30g and its full. no videos or anything just songs. anybody know how i can fully maximize my ipod space cuz it says i only have 27 gigs of audio files. wheres the last 3 gigs go?

Wow dude, 30 gigs of just tunes is a fucking lot. As for the lost 3 gigs, i dont know if all of it goes to things like system processes and stuff, but some of it does. So thats where some, if not all of your missing memory is.

yeah dude it sucks. my 30 gig filled up a few months ago and now i just put on what i will most likely listen to at the time.clear ur ipod and drag and drop genres or artists into ur ipod. im hopinh mine breaks before the warranty finishes and just get an 80.

yeah really

I have a shuffle and fill it with random stuff all the time and it's always good, and only good songs so I don't feel the need to constantly change the song after the first 12.3453456 seconds.

no, its not firmware and whatever. its because 1 gb=1024 mb, 1 mb=1024 kb, and 1 kb=1024 bytes. therefore, 1 gb = 1,073,741,824 bytes. however, when apple advertises their ipod as having 30 gb, they say 1 gb = 1000 mb, 1 mb = 1000 kb, and 1 kb = 1000 bytes, or that 1 gb = 1,000,000,000 bytes. so in actuality, 30 gb would be 32,212,254,720 bytes, and apple is only giving you 30,000,000,000 bytes, and you lose 2,212,254,720 bytes, or 2.06032 gb. if you check your capacity, it will say something like 27.9 gb or so, because they is the actual number of gb, not apples smaller ones.

and now i sound like a fucking nerd, but i looked it up on their website to see why i was getting screwed out of 2 gigs.

the 3 gigs are the programming for the ipod like u know what i mean idk how to explain it but u r screwed with those maybe since u dont watch vids or shit selll it and buy an old 40 or some shit

yea i thought i had the same problem untill i went through my songs, and realized i had 2 Nsync cds, a spice girls cd, and American idiot cd. thats 60 right there cleared up

well if you get your songs off of limewire they can come with album art without you knowing, and that takes up space i already have like 2 gbs full just from that crap that was hidden when i downloaded it off limewire so maybe thats it

deleting album artwork wont do that much...i cant fit all my muzic on the 30 gigger either so just manage em i guess according to what ur diggin more on a particular day. Its not like i listen to everythin every day anyways

damn i think youre right, fuck apple. also it really pisses me off cuz i see these fucking rich ass girls with 60 gig ones that they get for presents and all they have is like 2 gigs of destinys child and then a bunch of dumb movies like bring it on that they get their boyfriends to put on there because theyre dumb bitches and cant figure out shit. fuck. ass.

A way to maximize ipod space is to remove all your songs, and put them all on at once. The logic behind this is rather spotty, but involves compressing the files more efficiently....


i did it on my mini, and gained a little space, although i'm not gonna give you a number, cuz i cant remember how much it was...


so, get all your shit off the ipod, and then put it all back on.

and make sure there are no repetitions in your library...

i honestly heard that semen helps remove scratches from the ipods screen. pretty disgusting but i told my friend and hes gonna try it cause his is scratched as shit and its not like he couldnt wash the load off. ill update when he tries it
