Hendryx Skis is a modern ski manufacturing company with the ability to develop new designs very fast. Today's skiers are so progressive that the traditional ski industri cannot keep up to their need of better equipment. There are two reasons why this company started:
» The first is: Several years ago I design a new concept for windsurfboards. I had in mind a board which both was fast and able to turn well. Well… I never build the board, but last year when I bought a new one I noticed that I had bought an exact copy of my ideas - I was 5 years ahead! This time I will not let my ideas slip away!
» The second reason is: The fabulous Alaska descents by Johan Olofssons, 1995. For you that are not familiar with the name, I can inform you that Johan is a snowboarder and he descended 1000 meters vertically in very exposed terrain in just 38 seconds with such a style. Amazing! Eventhough it is more then ten years ago, it is still an outragous performance. Today I´ll say he is more then ten years ahead of skiers because skiers still have big problems to perform a ride like that, even though freeride skis exceed 200 cm! Strange! As Johans' board was something like 165 cm!
...I'll see you around
And they look really good.....:) Tip and tail are very nice, rocker is elliptic which gives really good lift and turning properties! Skis are built bomb proof with extra strong edges, thick base, ash core and reinforced with glass/kevlar! Tip and tail are rubberized to prevent delamination and to dampen the ski! Edges are hanging in rubber which is the strongest way of mounting edges and it dampens the ski as well! The kevlar is also there to dampen the ski! Bomb proof construction!
This is what Frank, company manager, said about last weekends test: Both on piste and off pist in warm and cold very rough off pist, runs like an arrow! Super smooth!

There are actually two reasons for mounting duckstance. The first one is that this position is a more natural position anatomically. If standing or walking your feet are naturally pointing outwards. If doing squats, with weights, you are about 20 percent stronger in duckstance position than if you are pointing your feet straight!
The second advantage is truly when it comes to skiing technique! Okay, now it becomes a bit more complicated! I usually tell people that I can´t make a ski that takes your skiing to heaven but what I have done is that I have made a ski/skis that is standing beyond todays skiers and to make use of them you have to start think of the way you ski! If you do that, then you´r on your way to heaven!
Big point here is to bank your skis equally much and a weight distribution between your skis of 50/50 %! This is very hard at a normal stance as your knees tend to fall in and making your inner ski to plough! But in duck stance position you just pull back your inner ski and press down your inner toes and you get bank easy. Your outer ski should be pushed forward, to paralell with your inner ski binding, and by heel pressing you stabilize your ski! With a turning radius of 15 to 17 m there is no need for hipp or waist movement, instead point of weight should be straight down between your skiis. This gives you a turning radius between GS and SG!
With this technique you do carve in almost all conditions and when your skis carve they become much more stable! The most obvious difference is how direct your skis becomes and especially in the initiation of the turn, when going back to normal stance it feels like your skiis are very sluggish!
We have also noticed that those who have problem knees do not get as sore as they use to be. Good for bad knees!
