So I might be attempting a 117' this year...

There's a 117 footer at a quarry near my house, and it's called Jesus. A few people have done it without getting hurt. I think one broke his wrist, but that's the worst that's happened (that I know of...). So I figure, "If they could do it, so could I." There's a possiblity that I'll go for it this summer, but before I make my decision I wanted to see if anyone has experienced a drop this big and what it was like? Any tips or helpful comments would be appreciated.

Uhh yeah, just a warning from someone who's broken her back multiple times:

When I was in CR for a family vacation, we went whitewater rafting on this river that had a big ass bridge about a half mile downriver from where we stopped. A bunch of the locals were jumping and said it was about 110-115'. It was a deep area but the current was decently fast, so it wasn't just a flat pool. Anyway, I jumped that once, obviously nothing fancy but with a pencil straight entry, and the impact still made my left thigh numb for an hour or so. This was five years ago or so.

I broke my back a year later, and I have severe scoliosis as a result of severe back injuries as a wee tyke.

Summer 2005, I jumped an 85-90 foot cliff into fairly still water, had a clean entry, and still ended up breaking my first lumbar vertebrae and my sternum. The impact also caused damage to my upper jaw, and in early July, I'll have my fourth surgery as a result. This was three or so years after the last time I broke my back.

So yeah, I'm not sure I'd recommend it, but it's totally up to you. I don't know if you have scoliosis or not, but it definitely weakens your back and can be the difference between a crazy adrenaline rush with a rad ending or many more months of pain, backbraces, and painkillers. It's your body and your risk, and I know that when people tell me I shouldn't do something, it just makes me want to do it that much more. Seriously consider the possible consequences, though. At just under 21-years-old, I have severe arthritis in my back and hips and am still dealing with multiple surgeries. This obviously won't necessarily happen to you, but it's something to think about.

make sure you dont land flat footed, because if you do then youll shove your heel bone through your calf. I saw it on some INHD show where they had national cliff jumping competitions, id check that out i think it was from Red Bull

I jumped a 95 footer at Lake Powell a couple years ago, and it really hurt. I landed pretty much perfect with toes pointed and arms at my side. I bruised my ass, and the bottom of my chin, i had whiplash and a twisted ankle, i would not ever go over 100. I will never jump anything over 50 again

thats an easy jump at least (as in its clean, no shit to clear), i would say go for it if you really want, just dont fuck up your back again. and i think that looks like a little less than 117? it doesnt look much bigger than the measured 76 at the place i go to.

thats really sick then, do it just wear shoes and have someone with a car and cell phone with service nearby. also try to find an 80 or so to get down pat before doing it.

If your going to do it, have a canoe or something with a 2 people in it to pull you into it after impact. one person to tend to you see if your okay and to film, and the other to row you quickly to shore incase you need medical attention

get somebody to go back and forth by it with a boat a lot right before... maybe dropping shit doesnt work but waves definitely help.. something to do with making you hit the water less perpendicular to it
