How much taxes/duties to pay when buying from bc canada?

Hi, I don't know if this thread really fits in this board, and if not I apologize.
I was just wondering if anyone who live in BC canada has ever bought anything online from an the states.
I am thinking of buying a pair of boots but it's quite pricy in local shops compared to some american websites.
My only concern is the customs/duties that will most likely be charged when the item is shipped.
I was wondering if anyone had a previous experience with that?
And again sorry if I am writing in a wrong forum.

yes i have, it was rollerblades so they are about the same size.
Its going to have to be a lot cheaper on the site because you first have to convert canadian $s into american. duty is like 40 dollars, customs i think is around the same.
plus, one time my skates just sat at customs for a full month. now i dispise them because they just let my stuff sit there for so long and still charged me some ridiculus amount when i dont even see why i get charged at all

If the seller in the states marks it as a GIFT on the customs form at the post office you won't have to pay any duties! I have shipped several pairs of ski's to canada and this does work.
All times are Eastern (-5)
