Skiing is Passing Snowboarding but Only We Know It

I hate how the pros and major ski companies don't do more to get the message out to the world that skiing is going just as big in the pipe and any where else on a mountain as snowboarders. I understand how they wouldn't have pipe in the olympics last year for skiing because not enough people would show up but in 2010 skiing will be so far past snowboarding especilly in the pipe. I hate the FIS they are just stuck in the spandex days and they really don't support skiing because we are the people that are keeping this sport alive not them, all they do is hold it back. It will be 15 years before skiing will be on the same level as snowboarding and by then their probably be some new snow
sport that will take over. Until the pros, major skiing companies and us make this sport get into the spotlight it will continue to move along at a snails pace and get no recognition in the stupid public's mind. So let's tell the pros and ski companies to actually try to get this sport to seem cool again to the average person. THE FIS IS GOING TO KILL THIS SPORT

i board and respect you guys a lot. The only reason were in the pipe and you guys arents (yet) is because the pipe was invented by snowboarding in the VERY ealy days, but i agree you guys do go much bigger than we do.

Yup, skiing is still progressing a lot, they need some kind of rigid scoring system for a sport to be in the olympics, somethign that skiing doesn't have.

Anyway, is it really so important in your life that newschool skiing gets into the spotlight? I mean, I only hope the best for the sport, but I don't give a damn if people don't recognize it. I enjoy skiing, but when I'm charging into a jump and focusing, I just love what I'm doing and I don't care about what people think.
Oh and thinking about it, I like skiing still being kinda underground and new. I like talking to people and hearing "WTF dude why are you still skiing?" then I'm like "Ok man let's go ride some day.." and the next week we go and I do some highspeed switch riding and I bring them into the park to show them what we can do on skis and they're like "Holy sh*t skiing is so cool righ now!!"
Bottom line, just go out and enjoy skiing and f*ck the FIS.

Underground sport = less gapers = less people doing it = you look most impressive when you have the moves
Let the snowboarders sit down at the bottom of the hit and talk smack, knowing that in our sport, most of us can actually do the things that they can only watch!

im sorry, skiing may be ahead in pipe and stuff but when it comes down to urban they absolutly destroy us, i think snowboard movies are way better

who cares about the olympics. it just even further mainstreamifies the sport like snowboarding and slowly ruins it, with companies who think they can find a product in the sport, and only make goods and sell things for profit, not to help improve or progress it. also after it you see more and more things that the x-gaymes have done to the mountains. "do you go in the park?" yea "can you backflip?"
or even riding up the lift when kids ask you abotu shaun white being so cool or a fucknig parents, when i fucking hate the guy.
why do you need thier recognition to think you have done something good?

The Olympics would pump more $$$ into the sport, and although it would make it more mainstream, it would also drive the progression. Every ski/film company would benefit.

skiing has been going bigger then snowboarding lately but were still not caught completly up yet. yes were boosting huge out of the pipe and doing huge spins and flips but theres jsut something thats not quite there. our attitude is not quite up to date. like in this thread with the creator being bitchy and saying we deserve more respect. maybe we do but complaining will not accomplish anything. snowboard movies, are way sicker then skiing movies. no one can argue that. if you disagree go watch MDP - Follow Me Around and then come and try and argue. snowboarders are doing more things with urban then skiers are. such as wallrides, tree stalls, roof gaps ect. then the next year after these tings have appeared in a snowboard movie, they will appear in a ski movie. sure we might deserve more respect and more exposure but snowboarding, in essence, created modern freestyle skiing as we see it. stop bitching, and deal with it.

I used to want skiing to be big like snowboarding, but I don't want to see tanner hall on american express commercials. It sucks when people don't give you respect, and it sucks when you have to explain everything about your skiing(no I don't race, I hit rails and jumps, then they say,skirs can hit rails?). I'd really rather not have a million gaper kids sitting in the park because it's cool. I'd rather just do what I love and be different. right now, when you find out someone has twins, you pretty much know they ski a lot and they are really dedicated(for the most part), but if skiing becomes like snowboarding, there will be tons of kids that just have twins cause they think it's cool to use them the two days of skiing they do each year at deer valley.

dude its sorta Awesome being an under ground type sport.... its fun to tell people ya I ski and they are like o thats nice thinking you are just like the rest of the skiers out there skiing, but than when you take the time to ex plane how you ski and do all the snowboard stuff they know exists they have a ton more respect for our sport
