you cant be the best if your not concertrating on one certain dicpline..so i think its the right choice for him.

That's sooo wrong in my opinion.
And After he blew up his ankles Park is a little strenuous on them. Think of casing/overshooting 75 foot booters in the park to ice. I'm not saying decking in the pipe isn't as bad though. And, pipe is where all the money is at. Good choice for tanner.

slopestyle is so last season

why is it wrong? it is a fact that the whole ski industry is growning so rapidly, that there will be sooooo good riders soon EVERYWHERE. if you want to hit the top, you got to choose one terrain.
course, if your ambitions arent that high and just want to have fun, its okay to do whatever you like whenever you like.

he already has all the biggest wins, so its no tragedy for him to slowly retire and let the younger generation hit it.

But people that are great at many disciplines stick out much more than the rest. Tanner was great at pipe and slopestyle the last year or two he was competing in slope. He also was producing quality movie segments too. Im pretty sure he's concentrating on skiing stuff that's a lot more fun. Would you rather ski pow with seth or ski park. Obvious answer. I'd ski bc anyday. Plus he has his movie company and armada too.

Tru. Just cuz someone doesn't compete in the x-games doesn't mean they are retiring. That's like calling Seth, CR, Mark Abma, Sage, retired. Bc pow jibbing is so dope.

tanners already proven himself at slopestyle and big air, he doesnt need to anymore. and his inspiration for being sick at pipe was because he got made fun of/ was a joke at the first x games pipe contest and mad people talked shit, so he naturally improved himself and now crushes the competition. it was only a matter of time for tanner, the guy is a perfectionist. watch his pipe runs every trick he does he lands at the top of the lip every single hit.

because he recognises that he is no where near the best at slopestyle and doesn't want to dent his ego.

That's not true. Before he stopped competing slope he was a regular on the podium there too.
Someone correct me if I'm wrong but I remember an interview where he explained why. He said that there was more room for progression in pipe than slope. Everyone was already doing sw 10s and 450 while pipe skiing in the last two years has progressed a ton. He's just focussing on progression. And right now he thinks he can progress the sport most through pipe and bringing freeskiing to the mountains.

Skiers who hate on Thall are almost as bad as boarders who hate on shawn white or worst of all surfers who hate on Kelly Slater. It's just fucking retarded to hate on your sport's pioneers of progression. Thall ripped the shit out of pipe/park for years, now he's pushing the sport in the bc while still winning pipe contests while running a ski and a film company. I can't wait till I am "aging" so I can do sw 10's in the pipe and steezed out 9's in the bc.

there is no way that you can put tanner in the same bracket as shawn white or kelly slater.
Tanner is/has been a pioneer, but not nearly as influential as shawn white and especially kelly slater

I didn't put him in the same bracket, notice I used the words "almost" and "worst of all". Hukt on fonix didt werk fore yew dyd it.

Does he have to prove himself anymore.. how about 6 gold @x-games, 4 gold @us open and rest of his medals? doesn't that prove something..

for sure the mountains exceeds alot more than park

there use to be not as many good people in pipe but now there is a bunch but that is the likely reason why he does pipe instead of park way harder to be on the top of park all the time

yea that is def. not true...in my opinion
to be the best you have to kill it everywhere not just in one area, you have to be a well rounded rider not just a park rat, but im in no way saying tanner is the best rider...
and to answer the original question, last year he didnt ski park because of his ankles, pipe was more fluent and but less stress on his ankles, and this year he was focusing on big mt. lines more than park or pipe, I think he might be trying to leave competion and focus on big mt. and bigger picture

that is NOT true, you can be as good as you want to be in anything, sammy carlson dominates everything so does jossi wells.

Well if you understood syntax you would realize you just made a fool of yourself. “Almost” is comparing skiers that hate and boarders who hate, not t-hall and white. The way its written “on” implies two similar people while the degree of haters is what’s “almost.” Next time don’t be a smart ass……Hukt on fonix didt werk fore yew dyd it. ….ironic….

He's just trying to drop his 'Park Rat' image. He's trying to become Eric Pollard by only skiing backcountry and pipe. He grew out a beard to become more of a mountain man. But in the end no one is ever gonna think that THall is anything like Pollard. So inevitably THall will never compete in a Slopestyle again.

hahahahahaha, take Sammy out there with Mr. Morrison and try telling me he "dominates". fuck that. that's about the most retarded thing i've heard all day.
if you want to know why Tanner is getting away from competing, ask him- CCREWSOLDIER.

First, I'm in highschool. Most people understand syntax
Second, the word "almost." First you used it to protect yourself from putting shawn white with thall. I explained syntax to you. Then, you contradicted yourself and applied "almost" to the "haters." Which was my point. You are contradicting yourself just so you don't sound wrong. The syntax was wrong and I never would have called you out on it if you had not been a wise ass to the other kid first. We all miss word shit, next time just clarify yourself instead of this crap.

how can you deny that THall is all about winning? who else freaks out when they get second place, and makes excuses when they don't get first? it's hard to blame him--when you win all the time, you get the accustomed to it. you start to feel entitled to it. it makes sense to back off from the events you can't win anymore, and channel your energy into the comps where you can still win gold.
it's not a dis to say that tanner is avoiding slopestyle because he doesn't want to lose. it's just being realistic.

its because he probably doesnt care, and from what ive seen over the past couple years of interviews hes basically fallen in love with the backcountry and stayed there. he barely throws down in the pipe any more. just x games, a couple of ski tour stops (i think 2, correct me if im wrong) and the park city pipe open.

i think he sees the future of skiing being in the BC..he's getting the skills up there so he stays in the limelight

people dont hate on pro's because they are the best they just dont like the attitude and dont talk about shaun white he may be the most popular but i think he still has no style but dont get me started, anyways t. hall is the best pipe skiier and one of the most innovative but i dont like him that much because i dont like the attitude he has and the way he presents himself is there a problem with that?

I don't like his attitude either, but I love his skiing, and he's progressed the sport for a long time.

tanner has had all the prices and i guess he just wanna do what he likes most but still do a lil competing. So either pipe or slopestyle. Pipe is so populair and a lot of sick events, so def good choice of him

T-Hall seems kinda ironic as a person. He eliminates slopestyle so he can always win gold in pipe, and he starts emphasizing on BC to prove it doesn't matter if you compete, just have fun.
His messages seem kinda against eachother.
But he is basically skiing's equivalent to kelly slater or shawn white.
Emphasis on "Basically", because skiing doesn't really have one of those figures.
