since i cant do shit this summer cause of a recouping ACL, i decided to switch from freeride to road biking, plus its a great way to get around downtown Columbus.
anyway, its not exactly new to me, as ive already put prolly 200 miles on it, but im stoked on its potential.
anyway, its an early 80s (guessing, maybe some of you can help further identify it), Soma Competition frame (japanese company, pretty good shit), with a complete shimano 600 build (anyone know where that groupset lies like in relation to like ultegra stuff?). its all in pristine condition.
anyway, tho it is in good condition, i still wanna bring some of the components up to modern spec, and rebuild everything.
i am planning on stripping and repainting the frame an intense sky blue, and rerouting the rear brake line through the toptube. i need opinions on a full color paint scheme, or leave the chrome stays and fork lowers, its in awesome shape.
all the components will be getting polished, and an all new 7 speed drivetrain is going on, with new cassette, clahin, pullys and everything. the saddle is being replaced with a yellow Selle Italia Flite gelflow saddle, and a longer seatpost. tires will be Continental Grad Prix 4000s, of course in yellow. bar tape and cable housings will be yellow cork as well.
im also gonna rebuild the hubs and bottom bracket with new high grade bearings, possibly with full bolt throu axles, or at least bolt on skewers. those damn clip in pedals have to go too, those things blow, look or SPD style wellgo pedals are goin on.
heres some illustrator sketches of possible color schemes, the two at the bottom are my fav, with the blue framed, white saddle one in a tie for 2nd.
