anyone gimme some tips on how to. im looking to relocate to a ski resort next season.. just wantin some tips. im thinkin northstar so i can be back in CA, or maybe mammoth.. but i dono CO is fab as well.. recommendations? i guess this is a CA bulletin anyhow. whatev
ya.. its pretty flat.. but i dono.. i wanna hone my park skills next season. im thinking maybe colorado.. but ive got friends in sacramento.. so tahoe appeals.. i dono.. where is there with a good park in tahoe..?? i haven't been there this season and last season i spent in switzerland so.. yea.. its been awhile
Spaghetti , Make friends at shops. Learn to live on zero money. Dont work at the mountain, you dont mix business with pleasure. The biggest expense other than rent is food. Budget and stick with it, in the winter i usually go about 15 bucks a week (7 DAYS) dont pay more than 400 for rent. Try to get there before winter starts so your settled. I lived in a campground for a month before i found a place. Ride a bike in the summer to get to work and save your ass off. winter jobs dont pay well, save your summer money. ITs a lifestyle that is not easy( dont get hurt or its over... ski smart). but if you can pull it off its the best shit ever. Then go ski your ass off and be proud supporting yourself instead of mommy and daddy paying for everything. Thats the real way to ski bum... then after your body is broken go to college and make a shit ton of money!
absolutely it is. boreal.. i fucking hate boreal. such a ghay little resort. and squAw i cant do cause i have no liscense anymore..
i wanna work at a resort because i want the free pass. people keep telling me ill need a car if i wanna do shit. but all i wana do is ski. so.. yea. i was looking at employeee housing. fucking expensive.. but i dono.. its worth it to live on a mountain.,
if all you care about is skiing get a job working at Kirkwood... its far from anywhere, but not too far and employee housing is about 100 yards from the lifts.
you will meet enough people that you can get into town when you need to, but the rest of the time you'll be right at the mountain.
I dont like boring hill eather, but kirkwood is a good place to work, Heavenly needs park crew skiers for next year. message a guy on here called TPC about a job and then contact heavenly too.
ive nevfer been to kirkwoon cause youve gotta drive all the way round the lake to get there.. i know the freeskiing is magical.. but park? yea.. heavnely would be nice i gues.. but if im gonna work for a vial resort i might as well go to CO. shiat...
Kirkwoods park is ok, until spring. Why not work for heavenly, there is pretty good pow skiing, you would have say in what gets built in the park, if you burn the drug policy there is kind of a dont ask dont tell thing. All those guys do is ride all day and prep the park in the after noon after that its all the cats work.
^^^no. squaw is easy to poach with a green pass. alpine is a bitch unless you ride yellow or alpine bowl or scott, or kangaroo but you dont need any pass anyway.
what?? no i changed my mind.. i wana go to Colorado.. screw CAlifoprnia.. if im gonna go work at a resort than i oughta just go to one of the best place's in the country to ski.. they have snow longer.. andddd i dono.. i never really liked squaw.. i like sugarbowl. its an undiscovered l;ittle gem.. whatever.. im thinking breck.. then i can go to heavenly for free to. ha.
Even though you said no on Squaw, I'd say you reconsider. Get a job in the village store, they pay 10 and hour and if you work 3 days a week they give you a free pass. Work on the weekends, then you have 4 days out of the week to ski. The pay will be more than enough to pay for one of those apartments next to dave's ski shop. I know because me and a couple of friends rented one out on our summer earnings during the 05-06 season, best season of my life.
Just find a couple of chill roommates and you will have more than enough for food and such. You'll get to know people and you can cut those expenses even more. Plus, no matter what you say, Squaw is world class terrain. Then just get a pass to flatstar for your park needs and ski it during the week when its not crowded, just avoid it on the weekends.
unfortunately i need to be able to survive.. and i also dont have a car.. so that means living in skiland, village whAtedver.. or employee bus.. im so nervous about finding housing to.. anyways.. if anyone is else is planning on doing something like this and is looking for a roomate or whatevger hit me up.. i would wana do it with friends but unfortunately none of my friends are obsessed enough with skiing or snowboarding to move to a resort.. shit hole.. i need more ski friends!! ah wellll
If my dorm housing thing at Sierra doesn't work out(incompetent fool misplaced my paper work, now I'm 14th on the waiting list so no guarantee I'll get a dorm) I'll probably end up taking a year off to ski.
hmm grüetzi zwergli.. i fucking salsa danced with a swiss midget letztes jahr in der schüür! ich glaube, dass du Kate bist, gäll?!? dass ist Nikki, erinnerst du mich? the swiss german zwergli caught my eye and it only led me to believe it was you because i knew you skied und ich habe oft gedacht, es ist mega schade dass wir niemals in der schweiz zusammen skigefahren sind. so, you want to be a ski bum? mammoth is a fine place to do that and i think i'm even going back during winter break to ski/work otherwise i'd be back there the whole season if it weren't for school.. girl, you should go to mammoth! tschüsseli bis spöter min schatz :D
yo im going to work there this winter and even though it is slightly flatstar i cannot wait. they have a fun park, the job is sorted so why not ey? in my spare time i plan to get out to alpine but seriously working there didnt appeal. Um so this doesnt really help you at all... but being a bum in tahoe is so much easier than in aussie (where im from) you can poach so easy- almost no need to buy a ticket especially for squaw or heavenly. best of luck buddy!
