so, i want to go to school in Canada, for business management, and i was wondering what are some good schools close to some ski mountains?
preferably in a place where the drinking age is 19 or lower.

well, seeing how the only good ski areas are alberta and BC, and alberta doesnt reallyt have many universities (thats what they are called in canada), then i dunno. UBC in BC is a good one, but its like 2 hours from whistler, and not that close to other ski areas.
I am in the same position as you. i am from canada, looking for a good university near a good mountain. they are hard to find

i go to mcgill in montreal. its considered the best, most 'international' school in canada and montreal is a dope place to live. we ride park at a local hill called avila (~45 minutes away, and mr.bishops home mountain). on the weekends we often go down to jay peak in vermont which, if you didnt know, has the best trees and most pow in the east

UBC okanagan, in kelowna bc.     awesome university.   getting 450 million$ worth of expansions this year.  really growing.   within an hour of Big White, Silver Star and Apex resorts.    i'd seriously check it out.   they have a new management faculty as well.

The Haskayne School of Business at the University of Calgary is decent, and 1 hour from the mountains.  It does require quite a high gpa to get into as its super competitive.  I'm currently a double major with one being Marketing within Haskayne, but it's starting to bore me and I may drop that major.

Do NOT come to Manitoba. Saskatchewan, or the Maritimes are just blannd. I wouldn't suggest it.


Quebec, Ontario, Alberta, or BC.
Sadly I'm to lazzy for specifics.

don;t go to UBC unless you are asian. mcgill is a good suggestion, 1 hour from tremblant, close to avila, jay peak etc and its a good school. too bad its in french land (quebec).

and by the way, 'not that close to other ski areas'? grouse, seymour, and cypress, all within the city...? what are you on brah? plus, like the other kid pointed out, there's both uni's and colleges in canada.

so question for the thread starter, are you filthy rich? if so, check out a brand new university in squamish, bc called quest university. ridiculously expensive... but hey, it's in a city between vancouver and whistler, in the mountains yet on the pacific ocean at the same time... squamish is known as the outdoor recreation capital of canada. it's worth a glance.

concordia is basically in the same area of downtown montreal as mcgill. however i think its more a place to study arts than management, and its definitely more french. i really dont know that much about it tho.

my brother might be going to quest university, and i really wanna go, but its mad expensive and my parents will only pay for him (if he gets in, which he probably wont). but ya thats a sick place, but i really dont think u will end up going there.
i went for a meeting thing about it and it looks so dope.

Thompson Rivers University in Kamloops, 45 min from Sun Peaks and right in the middle of BC making it good for road trips to whistler (3 hours away) revelstoke (2.5)

Let's be honest. There aren't really any good business schools in BC. UBC has the best around here and it's not exactly our best regarded faculty.

if you can get into mcgill, i would go there just because its probably the best academically in canada, but if you want business and still like montreal, then check out concordia. both are located in and around the city and both are close enough to jay/tremblant/avila. and plus montreal is fucking sick

Mcgill isn't the best at anything in Canada. The best business school is probably at Queen's.

calgary, kelowna, vancouver, and like a thousand other little shitty towns have universities all within 2hrs or less of some good skiing. Clagary is close to the rockies which are the shit, they own all else.

thats not right at all. Go to mcgill if you entend to study anything related to science. Concordia is renowned for Journalism and has a very great accredited business school(JMSB). Much better than McGill management which is, quite frankly, a joke.McGill gets off with having a better known name than Concordia, but if your going in to business definetely JMSB is the better place. Also class sizes are A LOT smaller than at McGill (~50 students compared to the auritoriums where youll have your classes at McGill...really not hands on).

As for the French comment, thats not the case. Sure theyre are French people(its Quebec after all), but theyre all bilingual. McGill has many more French people who go to there to study different science degrees.(as mcgill is number #1 uni in canada for some of these degrees).

As for business studies, I think concordia falls just behind York, University of Calgary and possibly Waterloo and Queens(they have pretty solid placings next to those 2 anyways).

Does anyone know of any good schools in alberta or BC that are not big universities. I am looking for more of a liberal arts type college. Preferably one with film production options. Any help would be really sweet.

umm what about U of C? its like 10 minutes from COP which had a sick park this year and night skiing every day. Plus its an hour from Sunshine Village and Norquay, 2 hours from Lake Louise, and Nakiska is like 45mins. Drinking age in Alberta is 18 thats pretty sick.

Ontario Universities are good for the most part, but good luck finding any decent skiing.

Rule out East coast Canada for skiing purposes (despite the fact that im going to school in Nova Scotia next year :P )

Anything in the prairies both sucks and theres no skiing

Quebec universities ie: Concordia, McGill are your first real options. Theyre good schools, and you have skiing in both the eastern townships, (Owl's head, Jay Peak, etc) and in the Laurentiens (Tremblant, Ste Sauver/ Avila) Your only obstacle are the high entry requirements and of course French.

Alberta and BC I say are the best of both worlds. Your schools are pretty decent and the skiing is more then decent (despite travel times)

In both Alberta and Quebec the drinking age is 18, but theyre the only provinces in Canada that are. BC or Ontario youll have 19 as a limit, but theyre not too strict as long as you have a concinving ID
