thats what a wide angle or fisheye will do for you. It widens the angle of view and as a side effect, any movements are lessened. Considering on that one shot where they almost collided, yet the guy still looks a little bit away, it's probably a pretty large de-magnification (definitely not a word), like .3 or something.
