I know Burton makes some good quality shit, and sure you can find deals on it, but why not support a ski company instead?

same reasons you buy any outer wear in the snow world, fits baggy, looks dope, decent quality, those sound like a few good reasons to me

so you are essentially asking people to defeat the American way? "I do what is most advantageous to me". Most people will buy what is the cheapest and highest quality. Often times that is Burton. I rock a Burton AK 3L jacket that I scored for $190. A $500, 3 layer gore tex soft shell. If Orage or Oakley made that it would retail at $700 and you would never be able to get for under $400 until at least three or 4 years later.

You can find it everywhere, it's pretty cheap, looks cool. I'd still rather wear oakley, but that's a snowboard company also, and I don't think any of the ski companies really have there quality dialed.

I just hate Burton from the anti-skier campaign they ran back in the day. Some of the boarders in my shop still rock the stickers on everything they own

I think the main confussion with the question I asked was that everyone just figured because I said it is good quailty, it looks dope. I think skiers wearing Burton looks like shit. It makes it look like were just wanna be boarders on skis, wearing boarding cloths. Well not exactly but your saying you would rather wear boarder outerware than ski outer ware. You can find good deals on other brands if you look around. I think we need more support for the ski brands. How can skiing companies grow if you put your money into boarding. The anti skiing burton slogans is another good reason.

Burton puts alot into the ski community. Ever hear of RED, ANON, RONIN? All companies skier wear, and anon and red sponsor skier, and all owned by burton. Burton is a GIANT! Dont hate them, embrace them.

dude, its all merging. fuck what happened in the past, skiers and snowboarders are getting closer. i know so many kids (myself somewhat included) who are influenced so much by boarding. trick/style al lthat. and snow/skateboard companies make the best clothign ever, Analog, WeSC, Ronin, Holden, all that shit looks so sick and is original.

it is sick, bro. Lightweight but warm, and ridiculously waterproof with better range of motion and fabric movement than anything Oakley I have owned (and I have owned a Radiator, the $675 jkt from three years ago as well as an Oakley puffy, the vector, the paratrooper and the Galactic.)

What exactly is the difference between Burton and ski companies? Its like girl's and their stupid hand bags. Hand bags are hand bags and outer wear is outer wear. They all serve the same purpose and your wear what you like.

i think snowboarding companies make better outerwear then ski companys all thats coming to mind is siver and there stuff was weak this yr and i consider oakley skiing and snowboarding for snowboarding theres special blend four square burton and ronin volcom bonfire i dunno shitloads

for skiing (not saying which ones i llike): Orage, Aeryx, Saga, Spyder, DNA, Helly hansen(both), Obermeyer, Sunice...

exactly. But Orage is $100 more for the same jacket, Aeryx is okay, Saga has management issues it seems(but their stuff is very dope), Spyder is still kind of racer and old man oriented, Helly charges the same as Orage as well as does Obermeyer...

its just price man like a orage jacket is like 450-600CDN and then u can get the same one from burton for like 300-400CDN
so why drop an extra like 150 for a jacket???
if ski companies brought down their prices then more skiers would buy there shit but right know the prices are just rediculous

i dont see the need to differentiate between a snowboard an ski brand. Is it like somehow magically you can tell what brand a peice of gear is? i know burton for the most part(atleast on my pants and jacket) dont turn their gear into a walking billboard...i do that on my own on my helmet...so i really dont see the need to say "o thats a snowboard jacket so its ugly and a peice of shit..." its all the same mountain community. grow up.
p.s. i dont know if you noticed but salomon makes snowboards, rossignol makes snowboards, etc. so all that salomon and rossi gear is worn by snowboarders too genius...there is no such thing as a ski only company any more...i dont think orage specifies on its home page that only skiers can purchase their outerwear...

How bout Quiksilver?...they make a sick puff jacket for Candide, but the price is redicilous.

The company is owned by a rider who rides over 100+ days a year in all different types of weather. The stuff is amazing quality and you can get the stuff pretty cheap. They make a limited quantity so when you're riding some kid doesn't have the same stuff as you and they have so much stuff for all different types of riding.
( Im doing a report on Why is Burton so popular?)

Ohh and the whole anti skiing thing was a while ago, btw in about 2001 a skier ran into Jake Carpenter and broke his leg, but i think the whole anti skiing thing kinda came from when skiiers thought of snowboarders as lunatics when they first came out in like early 70's and late 80's.
