I am wondering how much it would cost me to have a pair of used seth pistols with several minor scratches and one core shot and a moderate sized dent on the edge of the topsheet fixed at a ski shop. Also, how much would it cost for me to buy materials and fix it myself
if your thinking of buying those skis with the intent to fix them then don't. you really can't fix topsheets. you could seel it but thats about it. the p-tex. i think thats probably a 3 dollar job. why would you want those skis. tell us about yourself. ability...style...piste...
Im 5;7 and 160lbs and live in washington and was looking for a ski for powder days and trips to powder destinations i was going to buy those skis because with a tune up i thought they would perform ok but not look as pretty. I plan on about 20%piste, 50%powder and 30% park with these skis. Dont you think in my situation on a limited budget that is a smart plan for me.
P-tex will run you $10 if you look in the right places. Besides that fact, i would invest in a home-tuning setup anyways, so find a cheap iron and get a vice for your skis.
As for those skis, Seths are a little to wide for me personally. If you want a pow ski, get some Madens/AK's from last year, or look at Armada's JP vs Julien.
If you are looking for 2 pairs of season old seths go to val d'isere and to the top of the couloir de pisteurs, my bro (rastafarider) got caught in an avy there last week, lost his seths and his mate left his at the top to try and dig out my bro. Luckily he was alright, got whiplash and a hole in his back through to his pelvis. Anyway if you want them you just have to find them, they are there somewhere
