I don't know about you're bbqs, but I've never heard of a bbq in which cold beer isn't implied.

my point was that bbqs mean cold beer. Obviously a day such as today is a corona bbq day, but it never hurts to clarify.

beer, parties, and a huge tourist fad.

Cinco de Mayo isn't actually the Mexican independence day, our Columbus Day is their "el día de raciónes" or Day of Races, celebrating the blending of the two races.
They just say "Wtf is Cinco de Mayo? Oh well, if you want to party down here with us, you bring the money and we'll supply the alcohol! WE LOVE TOURISTS!"
So it's all a tourist industry.

In mexico, it's all about tourism...
and no I'm not from mexico my spanish teacher was telling us about how cinco de mayo was a ton of tourist bullshit, just an excuse to party.
I'll take that excuse any day!

the mexicans were way in debt from the mexican american war which they had lost and they decided to stop paying their debts to france, britan, and spain... only france decided to invade them and the shit hit the fan. the french attacked puebla and the mexi's kicked their asses.  badly. 

thank you regents spanish class!! too bad i havent learned any actual spanish though...
