Hey, how about instead of avoiding gasoline for a day, you donate to alternate fuel research. Or go ride your bike to work/school. Or do something to decrease your dependency on oil. Protesting gasoline companies won't solve this problem, but eliminating the need for gas will.

it has done shit and it will. and even if it doesnt at least we will have tried instead of being so damn doubtful of the power that we have. what's one day w/o gas anyway? nothing compared to what it does. i did not deserve that response at all. if you take into consideration how many times a day the pump gets visited and that the average amount of money spent at that pump is $30-40 you would realize it does make quite the difference. i said nothing about it changing the world forever because the world will be majorly fucked up as long as humans are on it. youre' the reason nothing gets changed because you don't think it can be, truth is every little bit helps. why be an asshole about it, i was not being self-righteous at all, to reiterate, i did not deserve that negative comment.

im not all too idealistic, i look at the fuel consumption problem and i realize it takes more than a protest to change it all but it's something and that is better than nothing

Having a "Don't gas up your car" day is the wrong way to protest it though. People who participate will either A. Actually avoid using gas for the day and bike/walk/whatever instead of driving or B. Fill up their car the day before and tell themselves they're helping out. So really, wouldn't it make more sense just to have a national ride your bike to work day or something similar?
