when i tried to build a rail from wood it didn't work (granted it was sloppy and at a wierd angle and i suck at rails) because my ski would dig into the rail and slow down alot.
what you do is you melt around one and a half bars of wax onto each ski, do as many layers as possible (the more the better) never scrape any wax off, and i mean never, once your done that, rub lemon juice on the bottom (belive me, i know what im doing) then put em in the deepfreeze for around 3 days, depends on the ski, take em out and youve got a wood slidin BEAST
When wood is cold and you get it wet it freezes and slides perfectly. When its warm and you get it wet theres a good chance it should still slide fine but you're gonna fuck up the wood way more and if its not your rail then its kind of a dick thing to do.
or get butchers wax. the stuff they put on bowling alleys. ive never tried this stuff when its war out but it worked perfectly when it was 50. you just have to keep putting it on and make sure your edges are dull.
