Yeah we did it to Canada and it isn't cheap. Shipping them back was twice as expensive as shipping them in. We used UPS and used bike boxes where you have to dismantle the bike. It's not that bad though, expect for the worry of losing your bike. If it's under home owner's insurance you don't have to worry about it, but if you don't, you might want to get insurance from UPS anyways.
get two bike boxes, and a roll of tape. pull the front wheel off and turn the bars. cut up the other box to protect key areas and to secure it in the box. DHL is usually the cheapest, but check them, fed ex, and the post office. UPS is ALWAYS alot more expensive. dont spend any more that 50 bucks, but usually it can be done for 30-40
you could take the rear off too, and unbolt the bars from the stem. that'l save a bit of room which for some companies will make it cheaper cause they use a volumetric and weight system where they charge based on the weight of the package and also the amount of room that the package takes up
