I just bought a pair of Line Prophet 100s from D-Structure. I'm an aggressive skier looking for an out west ski for trips I take out there frequently. The 130s were the same price, should I have stepped it up? The 130s just seem too dope to pass up for the same price. What are your thoughts?
how often are we talkin? cuz as much as I dig the whole fat ski idea 130s in CT is kinda pushin so I'm not sure how much you'd be able to put them to use. particularly if you dont plan your trips right when the mountains get dumped on cuz even on most days out west I'd rather have the 100s.
yeah don't be blinded by the big waistband. the 100 is such an awesome ski. it's great for everything from groomers to deep pow and big cliffs. the 130 is cool, but totally uneccesary for what you'd be using it for. keep what you've got, you'll be stoked.
Never ridden the 100s...but I will say that I absolutely loved my 130s.
They aren't a superhuman ski like everyone would have you believe, they are very managable if you're a decent skier(switch groomer carving + reverts on 130 waist skis?...Hell yeah) and are absolute gnar-kill in fresh snow. Stomp switch pow landings with ease, rip up tree runs, even spinning isn't that bad - but I didn't spin that much, usually 180s and 360s.
Arem said it best. I was skeptical of the ski at first but after a run I was right at home on them. And this was on a semi-icy groomer. Then when I was in Steamboat after they had gotten dumped on I got to see what they can really do. And again they didnt let me down. Pow landings are amazingly smooth even when landed switch, float and stability is sick, and tight trees are nothing to be scared of. Honestly the 130 for me is an all-mountain ski, very versatile.
how often do you go out west, like an x-mas break kinda thing, if so i would say just demo skis because you can demo top of the line new shit every year, if it is more often like 3-4 weeks a year i would say get skis, as for which ones i havent ridden either, so cant help you there, but what type of skiing are you doing charging or more jibbing around
seems to me that you made up your mind already. but i think its up to the skier. like youve heard from everyone who owns the 130s, they love it most places. but the 100 is a renowned all mountain/big mountain slayer. i mean this shit rips. so its up to you. you will be 110% happy with the 100s. its a personal preference to bump up to the 130s.
130s from what ive seen and heard, they kill everything a lot better than ud think. Ive seen people ridin them on groomers, ice, pow, crud, bumps, everything and they looked to be riding fine
