economically im republican but most social issues like abortion and legalization im more liberal. i just believe in freedom over equality. so yeah... pretty much republican.
Shit dude, i didnt know there were so many reps on this site. as for me, DEMOCRATS, BITCH!!!!! if you wanna keep skiing, join us!! we fight global warming.YAY US!!
Dem, except when it comes to fiscal policy. Funny thing though, clinton had our country out of a deficit, and who puts us back in, the fiscal conservative. But yeah, definitely socially liberal (in the american sense).
im pretty sure most of you dont really understand what a political affiliation is; Independent means that your not a Dem. and your not Rep. its kind of like "other" and requires additional information.
I am a Libertarian.
I dont believe in federal governments, outside of confederacies.
States Rights.
No social welfare, no immigration laws, no income taxes, AND NO FUCKING LEO!!! (law enforcement officers)
Libertarianism would only work in a world where everything and everyone was regressed back to the state of nature, and natural laws were abided by. That's way too much to ask of our current society.
And if there is no federal gov'ts just state rights whats keeping the united states from splitting into 50 seperate countrys? And if there was only state rights alabama, mississipi, louisiana, etc. would still probably be segregated today which I don't understand how that would be a good place to live?
In what I've read about libertarianism, the point is to have a bunch of communities working together through the idea of a greater good, not through a governing authority. There are few laws (rape, murder, theft) that are punished severely (shunned from the community, left to be an outsider). There are more points, but it's an interesting concept.
Yeah, Communism sounds great in theory and everything but look how that turned out. People these days dont have the control to pull something off like a libertarian society, there is too many madmen in the streets raping 6 year old girls and killing 32 kids in colleges for that to have the slightest amount of success.
the beauty of it is that in a true libertarian society, those evil fucks would be outsiders, and if recognized, would be killed on the spot.
all that needs to happen to create a libertarian society is the unraveling of the one we already have. Once enough systems of pluralism and its bureaucracy have fallen, smaller, localized systems will take their place. Once enough laws have been defaulted upon (business laws, tort law, health codes etc) the only system in place is local.
Who would be killing them? People in the community all have guns killing murderers and rapist etc.? sounds like there would be high body counts in this society of yours. They would be outsiders? where would they go if there is no federal prison? Just move into another state and kill more people or rape more people? Good luck with that.
you cant, so dont try, I hate it when kids talk about politics, but dont get it at all. Like I was walking in my old school and I see on an 8th graders locker "republican and proud" I thought to myself that this kid couldnt even say what it meant to be republican. Sadly I know that there will be some very ignorant votes for both the democrat and republican side by kids who dont understand stuff at all in the next presidential election from kids in my class who will be voting for the first time.
Anyways, I am pro choice, gay rights, evironment is high on my priorities list, against the war, I am for legalization of weed, so I guess I am a socially liberal catholic, which is pretty rare in my town. As far as fiscaly goes, Ill support whoever I think can get us out of this financial mess we are in. People need to not be so one sided where they think everything that their party says is right, and everything the other party says is wrong. Shit should be less bipartisan in our country
Hmm pro choice is an odd subject to me. I think there is 2 circumstances you should be able to get an abortion (my views have changed slightly) 1st, you have to be in your first trimester, 2nd you can get an abortion if you were a victim of rape or some incident like that. 2nd and 3rd trimester (which is already pretty difficult to get one), Don't even think about it. Gay rights is a tough situation for me, I think marriage wise they should have a sort of 'union' if you will but not a holy marriage but just having a non-holy 'union' is fine by me. Maybe some slight possesion laws for weed but nothing else and I agree I don't give a shit what party it is if they can get us out of debt I'm all for it.
I call myself an independat (was Republican) and I am proud to say I'm voting for my black brothren Barack Obama.
oh I agree with you on the holy non holy thing, but that isnt the governments choice. If the government made gay marrige allowed, that just means a legal marrige. the government could never force a church to marry a couple, separation of church and state. Thats why I think that we should allow gay marrige where they get all of the same benifits, but if a church doesnt want to recognize it as a holy matrimony thats their deal
I agree with the countries that have completely separate union and marriage ceremonies. You go to the state and apply for a Union License (or whatever it's called) so you can get your fiscal benefits and other benefits and then if you're religious, you go to your church/mosque/synagogue/etc for your marriage ceremony. If it wasn't something that was blended into American society a long time ago, we wouldn't have to worry about people who weren't religious feeling any necessity in getting married if they were given the same rights under the state. It would further separate church and state and make me happy.
I am a super conservative so i am republican.....not much of a fan for liberals....I dont have much patience to hear about how they want to higher taxes when they already take 40% of your money
To all you folks who say you like the idea of popular sovreignty and anarchy, here is a link to a story called, "And then there were none"
The story is a profound sci-fi story about anarchy in action, on a global scale. www.abelard.org/e-f-russell.htm
I would call myself a republican before I would call myself a democrat. I agree with republicans on nearly all issues and agree with democrats very seldom.
And whoever said that they favor either McCain or Obama at this point... how is that possible? Do you pay attention to their policies or is your support based on hair style?
i would have to say....independant, or NDP. I know that everybody says that jack layton is a jackass and they will never get elected but in my riding ( nothern ontario) the NDP is the best choice.
I'm a republican, I TRULY BELIEVE OBAMA is a liar. He has no original thoughts, and his health care reform sucks. don't get me started on the olympics or him bowing to world leaders.
I dont know what i am. ;) I actually think both parties are far to liberal under some circumstances. so i would not align myself blindly with either party.
how about someone that believes in the preservation of rights?
