SINGLE best binding in the history of skiing. Actually, the current model is not nearly as good as some previous turntable models, but oh well. in thier current stage, the 120s have a toe like the recreational pivot model, with upward release. the 155-185 models have a solid rotational toe, like a salomon 912 toe.
but besides that, the FEEL of this binding is why people love it. since its a race binding, energy transfer is KEY, and there is almost no slop in the interface. along with that, the low mount and tight screw pattern allow the ski to flex naturally, directly behind the heel of the boot. ride these, then try some track mounted bindings like salomon or PXs. the feel is very noticable, and ruins the feel of a ski.
the bad parts of the binding: the brakes suck, plenty of people i know run the brakeless, just cause theyve broken off. and when they do, you have to unmount the ski to replace them. the turntable heel is a huge pain to deal with, and depending on the age of them, you have to keep an eye on the forward pressure, as sometimes they like to unscrew (the actual arms that hold it on).
the FKS is an amazing binding, and if your looking for the pinacle of preformance, its it. if your looking for something a bit more user friendly binding with exactly the same type of flex feel, and a tad less tight hold, the P12 is a great option.
