So with the recent school shootings and what not, everyone is really paranoid at my school. my friend parker, as a joke in english class for his poetry project writes all these fake emo kid poems about suicide and stuff. now if anyone with two brains cells to rub together read them, they could tell it was a joke. apparently our vice principal saw his project, and decided it wasn't safe to have him in school until he got a mental evaluation at juvy. so because of a joke about emo kids, my friend, got suspended indeffinitly until he takes the test to prove he isnt going to shoot up our school.

I can honestly say I feel bad for you kids that go to school these days. I am not that much olderi nt he scheme of things, 28, but I graduated H.S. in 97' from a small school in colorado. I can remember my cowboy buddy having his hunting rifles in our classroom because he was going on a hunt after school. Nobody said shit, he didn't kill anybody and we all went home. These were also the days when you could get into a fist fight and not get arrested. I am not saying any of this with a condescending attitude or any bit of "i am cooler than you"ness. It is a shame that because of a few isolated incidences that got out of hand, everyone has to suffer. Our Laws of "if something happens we have to protect our ass if this ever happens again" are bullshit, the $14 million dollar "I ate my shit on a jump I had no business being on", lawsuit, the "I spilled hot coffee on my lap lawsuit", the "I was bullied so i shot some people shit. Its because we have become weak as individuals as a country as a species because we protect ourselves from bad situations so much. Life has to suck at parts for it to thrive. Sucks about your buddy. R.I.P freedom of speech, thought and actions. Viva the era of Opression.

Yeah and then you graduate and 2 years later Columbine happends which changes everything regarding that kind of stuff and then this month a madman with guns shoots 60 people killing 32 and we're not supposed to care about people bringing guns into classrooms? What ever is all I can say to that. Sure, in '97 I'm sure that wouldnt be that bad but since the events following it, it has become and is becoming a serious serious problem that shouldnt be joked about.

there was no joking intended. I understand shit happenes, but life does not have to completely change because of these events. I am not saying that guns are ok at school. I am saying that all of these laws and social changes to protect us as a species are making us weaker. It is taking out Darwin's theory of of the strongest of a species surviving and bringing us all down to the lowest common denominator. If we all slow down to let others survive we all suffer. That statement being said it is referring to the lawsuit issue and over protectiveness as a whole not the columbine or vt shootings. i think you missed my point.

It is the idea that we need to overprotect our society with laws that waste our resources, like the money wasted for companies that sell coffee having to put "Caution contents may be hot". The idea that kids cannot get into a fist fight without getting arrested. It serves a human being good to get a bloody nose. The idea that we cannot make mistakes in our life without repercussions is bullshit. sorry for the searing but i am upset at frivolous lawsuits and crappy school rules. They simply could of asked the kid are you going to kill yourself and he could of said " you know it was a joke and it obviously got out of hand, can i go back to class." I will be back later to continue our discussion right now i have to go to the bar.
