Computer HELP Laptop DVD/CD burner

have a laptop that is on the newer side and everything is great.  it is a Dell inspiron and the only flaw is the DVD/CD burner that it came with doesn't play any movie at all with out constant stuttering and it wont burn any dvds with any program at all. i have downloaded a ton of programs and it doesn't work.


The question is:  Is it the drive that is messing it up or the computer it self??  Also is it possible to replace it with a much better one so it will play smooth and burn no problem?  I will get it replaced by the geek squad or something so i don't kill my computer.

From what you're saying, it seems like it is the drive itself, not your computer.

Thank you.  Can i replace it? I have heard they are wicked hard to upgrade and such

you can buy a new drive for like $60. you push one button on the outside of the drive, pull it out, and re insert the new one. it takes about 30 seconds. i have a dell inspiron as well.

just go to dell.com and look for the drive compatible with your insiron model.

Yeah, they're easy to replace, but I've noticed that they're hard to find.
