Laptop DVD/CD burner COMPUTER PEOPLE!

I have a laptop that is on the newer side and everything is great.  it is a Dell inspiron and the only flaw is the DVD/CD burner that it came with doesn't play any movie at all with out constant stuttering and it wont burn any dvds with any program at all. i have downloaded a ton of programs and it doesn't work.


The question is:  Is it the drive that is messing it up or the computer it self??  Also is it possible to replace it with a much better one so it will play smooth and burn no problem?  I will get it replaced by the geek squad or something so i don't kill my computer.

the geek squad sucks... my friend works for them and most of them really don't know what they are doing.. If I were you I would look up a local computer "fixing" company and have them come over and check out your computer. it's cheaper and more effective than the geek squad.
