anyone who argues for gun control is a complete dumbass. anyone with the intention of killing WILL be able to get a gun no matter what, and the only people that it is hurting is the law abiding citizens. look at drugs.. yes theyre illegal, but is that stopping anyone from getting them?? of course not, and it would be the same with guns. if a person with a permit to carry a concealed weapon is stripped of that right, how is that fair he is only going to use the gun in a situation where he feels somsones life is in danger. someone with those rights become defenseless against a criminal with a gun they illegally own. gun control supporters need to think about who its affecting and i want to know why you would argue for it.

Guns and anything to do with guns should be banned in all countries. Which means no hunting and no college massacres. The only way to be legally be in posession of a firearm should be for competition shooting and for professional marksmen.
The whole "right to protect your property" is bollocks. Just have decent security measures on your house.
If anyone disagrees then they will be cursed forever by the pig of unimaginable pain.

wrong. not every crime is carefully premeditated and involves the level of planning required to buy a gun illegally. people who commit suicide and shoot up schools are very unstable and do these things in a fit of passion. they are much less likely to use a gun if it is not readily avalable.
gun control issues always come up when there is a violent crime, and yes it is a kneejerk reaction. but think about this: when was the last time you heard a news story that drew the conclusion 'if only our gun laws werent so strict, this vistim would have been able to defend himself?'. fucking never. if gun availability saved more lives than it took, countries with stricter control than the US would have lower rates of gun violence. and they dont.

Hunting involves, most often, rifles and shotguns. Here are some stats off of the FBI's site.
The numbers are numbers of deaths per gun used. The years are 2000 to 2004
Handguns 6,778 6,931 7,294 7,745 7,265
Rifles 411 386 488 392 393
Shotguns 485 511 486 454 507
Other guns 53 59 75 76 117

I agree to gun control to some extent, but honestly if they take all guns away, people will just make bombs instead and cause alot more havoc than guns ever did....

People do stupid shit and either kill others or themselves. Thats life. People give the human race WAY to much credit thinking we are all like super geniouses just cause we are humans.... Think of it as a form of natural selection......

yeah, i was about to say.
the inability to use handguns wont stop people from killing others, like gangs and crazy people. theyll find new means, whether it be sticky bombs, grenades, bazookas, knives, or ninja stars

That was one of the dumbest things I have ever heard on this site, and I have heard some pretty dumb things. You are ignorant.

So, what is the purpose to ban guns?
To prevent murder, right?
So if these criminals are already breaking the law by killing people like this, what will cause them to obey this one?

exactly. i have nothing major against hunting or sport guns. handguns are FOR killing people, the only group that benefits from their widespread availability is the arms industry and the washington lobbyists they employ.

ok, maybe less violence but certainly not less loss of lives. what if one of these deranged fools gets a gun? he comes into your house/school/work and starts shootin people. none of the honest people will have a reasonable method of defense.
If someone has no regard for the law, simply making another one won't make a difference.
For example, drugs are illegal. It's illegal to sell them. What makes you think guns will be any different?

that argument looks reasonable on paper but think about it in terms of reality. name one time that a major tragedy was averted by a good law-abiding gun toting citizen. never. now think about a seriously disturbed individual who is prone to violent thoughts. how much more likely are they to act on them if they can go to the store and legally purchase a weapon, versus going through the effort of locating an illegal dealer? im sure this has been a contributing factor in many cases of gun murder.
as for the drugs argument, there will never be near the demand for illegal handguns that there is for recreational drugs. low demand means a small number of dealers: low availability that could decrease the likelihood of an individual commiting a gun crime, as in the above scenario.
im out though, i have 2 fuckin exams tomorrow.

In Vermont before the two professors were killed at Norwich last year, the two kids came to the door of a man who they had planned to rob/kill (as they did the professors) and the guy had a 9mm at hand when he answered the door. They walked away.

Well obviously armed response police will have guns dickhead.
The whole point of protecting yourself with a gun is to save your life against someone who also has a gun, right? Much more lives are lost if guns are legal to own. Fact.
Plus, whens the last time there was a school massacre in Europe with more than double the population of north America and a no guns policy?

why? should we really have the right to own something designed for murder? so many people blindly accept this phrase without really thinking about it. the constitution is not an infallible document, that's why there are amendments.

They can have my guns when they pry them from my cold dead hands. I use all my firearms for hunting and practicing hunting, but I would support tighter legislation on hand guns for sure. I do feel warm and fuzzy at night sleeping next to my mossy though, and god help the burglar who enters my house at night.

So you would murder a desperate man just for trying to steal stuff?

I'm not waking up to ask questions about his intentions in my home if someone is entering other than knocking on the door. Plus go break into a store if you want stuff, home invasion is no joke and that is how i treat it, also i am humane and load crowd control rubber bullets for the first two shots after that.... well I've never been in that situation thankfully. I'm no freak who would enjoy it trust me but I will protect my family.

so you'd let some guy just take the stuff you worked hard for? what about if he has a gun? what if he wants to kidnap your family? guns do cause more deaths, but like it or not, we have em, need them, and it's constitutional.
sometimes bad things just happen. Cho bought his gun legally, and had a full background check. yes, it was fucked up, and there's all this stuff about how his mom's brothers dog trainer should have seen "the signs," but sometimes people fuck up. and people die because of that.

I think it all comes down to what laws you've grown up to know and stick to and they affect your beliefs I'm sure. I am very anti-guns. But then I'm from a country with an anti-guns policy. I suppose the same and opposite goes for pro-gun Americans.
But I also consider life the greatest possession someone has and for hundreds of people to be killed because of a selfish, inhumane, money making law makes me sick.
Thats it my rant is over, someone else take over for my corner,
I really should get off the internet and do some work.

Most people I know (myself included) don't know anybody who's been shot or killed, so the whole 'guns are so dangerous' thing isn't applicable in their lives, thus making the statement seem far off from their reality. This is obviously not true to some extent, as we've seen the Vtech massacre and the like, but when nothing happens in YOUR world, you tend not to see it as much of a problem. Another example is the Iraq war. I know NOBODY who has been or who will be going into combat so I can't connect with the war beyond what I watch on tv.
