When i go camping i always build one. I make a bottomless tent out of a huge tarp and dig a pit, then i heat some river boulders for like 4 hours in hot coals, roll them into the tent pit with a shovel, get in, seal the tarp and pour water and eucalyptis (sp?) oil on them. You can only stand it for like 5 minutes though. You get out and feel so refreshed.
Yeah, we had a first nation man do our sweat. He sang a song while putting sage and cedar on the first seven stones(also called the grandfathers). Then he splashed water on them and played his drum. After about 20 minutes his wife opened it up and brought in seven more rocks. We only did two rounds but your suppose to do four. Somthing about theres 24 ribs in a buffalo so you do four rounds of seven stones. I had no idea how spiritual it was. Everything from entering the lodge to where you sat. It was by far the most refreshing thing I have done.
