IRAQ: Should we stay or should we go?
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"I believe myself that the secretary of state, secretary of defense and — you have to make your own decisions as to what the president knows — (know) this war is lost and the surge is not accomplishing anything as indicated by the extreme violence in Iraq yesterday," said Reid, D-Nev.
"I can't begin to imagine how our troops in the field, who are risking their lives every day, are going to react when they get back to base and hear that the Democrat leader of the United States Senate has declared the war is lost," said Senate GOP leader Mitch McConnell (news, bio, voting record), R-Ky.
"If you're a young commander on the ground, or an Iraqi soldier, and you've been tasked with a mission to help provide security for a city, and an enemy hears that you're leaving soon, it affects your capacity to do your job," Bush said at Tippecanoe High School.
Well what do you think? Stay? Leave? Why? How?

We should definatley stay. Its getting so much better, the ISF is taking so much more control, they reached there 11,300 maximum quota set by t here govt. all they need now is more training by US forces. We wont ever be totally absent, but its getting so much better that to leave now would be in vain. The Al-Anbar province, has contributed more then 1/2 of the deaths in this war (US soldiers). Now its one of the safest places in the country. Baghdad is a major focus right now, and the ISF is really stepping up and taking more control, little by little.

in response to the quote from mitch mcconnell, HENRY KISSINGER declared the war lost before the midterm elections, and reiterated that point recently. So the democrats aren't the only ones who have a fucking clue and are calling this war lost. As revealed in Bob Woodward's "State of Denial," the inner circle of the Bush administration relies on Kissinger for advice on foreign policy. I think you have to assume that the Bush administration privately shares Kissinger's opinion that the war is unwinnable. Everything that is happening now is just posturing. The question is not whether we stay or leave, it's who gets the blame for failure when we do.

Did you read the news today or yesterday? In the last two days, 200+ people have been blown up in Baghdad, proving that the surge isn't working. Not only that, but the last 6 month have been the deadliest for American troops, as well as Iraqi civilians. Things are not getting better. Also, the ISF needs a hell of a lot more than training by US soldiers. They need to be impartial about the civil war, which very few of them are. The Iraqi troops have tolerated, and even took part in acts of death squads that kill sunnis or shia. It doesn't matter if there are 11,000 of them . . . . when the shit goes down they take sides and are no longer soldiers of iraq.

Such a fucking mess over there. Shits so bad, I dont think it should be left to the average citizen to decide our next move. Our government needs to get a bi-partisan panel together and consult the governments and experts in the area and plan out our next move. I dont know what the fuck to do, I'm wont even pretend to know half of complexities that are working over there.
