Peroneal Tendon Dislocation/Subluxation

Has anyone ever done this? Apparently it's a very common skiing injury, yet I've never heard of it before.

It just happened to me last Saturday, and I'm just seeing what my options might be with regard to surgery/recovery time.

Fucking ouch dude. I've learned a little bit about that in one of my anatomy classes I'm taking, that shits no good. Basically, people with weak cartiledge around the bump on the outside of your ankle can have a tendon that runs under it slip up and over the knob, which makes your entire calf hurt like a bitch. That shit sucks.... I dont think theres much you can do, strength training to get the supporting muscles stronger after it heals?

Yeah I'm really not in any pain and it isn't restricting my range of motion or anything, but its still something I have to deal with or it will get way worse. The doctor told me that it happens to mainly skiers when they flex forward too hard, causing that tendon to rip off and over your ankle bone.

Basically theres no way outside of surgery to fix it which sucks bigtime.

Fuck... i get that same pain.... but I lift from time to time, ride a bike a ton, and in general good shape, and have strong calfs. Maybe it happened when I was little. If I put my boots on too tight my calves ache like all hell. And it ruins my ski day.

try rehab/taking, etc, but surgery is common to deepen the fibular groove (where the peroneal tendons sit), and to repair the retinaculum ( the supporting sheath to the tendon)

With skiing though, he'll probably just tear it again. If he keeps it easy over the summer, surgery might not be needed.
