Skis/boots/bindings for a new skier?

Yeah, so one of my single plank friends decided that he's going to ski next season. He's sick in the park and by the end of the year his board is trashed. Oh yeah, he's never skied a day in his life. So I've been trying to think of what skis/bindings/boots he should get. He's 5'6''ish (Korean), and weighs like 110. I'm thinking around 150-160 for the ski length? Any help/comments would be sweet. And any tips I can give to him would be dandy. I'm a horrible teacher. Last time I tried to teach someone to ski, he ended up taking out more people than I have fingers (or toes).
Oh yeah, is anyone gonna want footage of his first time on skis?

Haha, I would love to see some footy, sure. I'd get him set up on some cheapish skis, definitely a used pair of twins, around that length. Get some good bindings for him that you'll use on another ski for the year after if he wants to continue. As for boots, go to a shop, try on everything and see what brand of boot fits his foot best. Then, scope around for a used pair in his size. Check NS over the summer, its a great place for cheap used gear like this. The total setup will probably cost around $500-$600 if you look for deals - $150 for good bindings, $200ish for skis and probably $200 for boots.

boots depend on his foot go to a shop and look, get some cheap skis like invaders or habbits or somthing, check steepandcheap for skis get somthing softer, mt them 2 cm back from center and get a decent binding he can use them again once he breaks his cheap skis, somthing with a din of 12 or better.
