Replying to Diffusion of Responsibility
After seeing what happened at VT, the reasons people are giving are getting out of hand. They tend to bring up other things to blame it on, and this tragedy hasn't even been 5 days old. Before anyone knows ANY of the facts things like violence in movies and video games got brought up. To me, and probably anyone else, playing GTA won't make me want to run out and jack someones ride. If it does, that idea was probably already there to begin with. People just can't blame the crazy person, for being just that, crazy. Sure this person might of been abused or had something traumatic happen, but they or the people around them should of sent them to get help. Don't get me wrong, I know how hard psychological problems are, and how hard they are to tame, but that problem is a result of your upbringing or your DNA. Not the things that are meant to be entertainment around you. I personally know a lot of people who were involved in a full blown war, a very traumatic experience. These people saw snipers take out children and watched their homes get hit with mortars. Though, these people hate violence more than anyone.
Personally, I think if your going to be a mass murdering lunatic, your going to be one regardless of how many times you watch The Matrix. Murderers for some reason in this country are painted to be the victims. Look at the Columbine kids, now they are looked upon as bullied kids who didn't know what they were doing because Marilyn Manson and our violent society pushed them to walk into their high school strapped. Though, its surprising that one does not know what they are doing when they do nothing but make videos talking about it and write about it and detail it out. Even bullying as a whole I don't see as that much of a spark. Everyone got bullied at one point or another, doesn't matter how popular you might of been in school. If anything, I believe it just teaches you how to survive in a vicious world, which is what life generally is. People need to quit blaming everyone else, and blame the one that did the deed.
