Ok so basically I am VERY inflexible (like with my knees straight i can only get half way down my shins, MAYBE 2/3) and its starting to affect my skiing because doing grabs is alot harder. Since the season is over i'm looking for exercises to do to get more flexible so i can ski better. if it matters i'm still young (14) and i am definitely growing. anything you guys could recommend that you might have done? does just strecthing at night and doing the whole reach as far as you can, count to 10, reach a little bit farther, count to ten, etc even work?
Just try to stretch everyday, since baseball started thats what I've been doing and I can touch my palms to the floor on standing up stretches. Weve been doing it for about 4 weeks probably.
ok thanks guys but last question:
should i stand up or sit down when i do it and stretch out just one leg and reach for it with both hands or both feet and both hands. if it doesn't matter then just ignore this post
Do multiple stretches, spread your legs when standking and touch the floor, then try and get both hands on your right foot, then both on your left foot, hold each stretch for a bit. After that you can do lunges where you bend your right knee to the right and keep your left leg straight, strethces out your left leg, repeat on the other side. Put both feet together and try and touch the ground. Cross your legs and try and touch the ground. When you sit down do pretty much the same, pull one leg closer to your body and then try and reach both hands out to your outstretched leg. Stuff like that. The more different stretches you do the more flexible you will become.
