We are doing this whole eco-friendly unit in school, and it really got me thinking, and im thinking about becoming a vegitarian. what do you guys think??are any of you vegitarians??
eating meat fucks up the environment bad.. i read in the Oregonian that domestically raising farm animals around the world are one of the top 3 causes for global warming. Because we pretty much "mass produce" livestock they shit a lot giving off hella greenhouse gases.... that said i do enjoy some chicken and fish once in awhile, but i stay away from those big mammals with hooves like pigs and cows cause they shit a lot and fuck shit up. its totally unrealistic though to just cut off the supply of livestock as most of the world is dependent on meat from farm animals... think of all that fat people that would die of depression if they couldnt have a nother steak. stupid fat people its prolly their fault there is greenhouse gases. we should send them to the moon
well the reason i dont eat red meat (cattle) is because if youre familiar with the trophic levels... they are high up and therefore a ton of energy is lost by the time it reaches them (producers to primary to secondary etc). But basically... it's the fact that all this energy is wasted when it could be saved by starting off with the producers which are the plants that cattle eat, instead of having them use a mass amount of wasted space which could be used to grow food for humans around the world who are poverty stricken. they cant afford to buy cattle...
that was really scattered but i hope you get the point.
Ya I was learning about all this stuff. You only get 10% of the energy that that cow has because 90% of the energy is lost due to heat so it's healthier and you get more energy from eating lower on the food chain
word... and even if its just for the reason that livestock is pumped with antibiotics and hormones.... think of what thats doing to us?
also... farm raised fish... which means they breed a rediculous number of fish in a tank far too small for the number of fish... so when the fish excrete AMMONIA (!!!) they swim around in it and its absorbed into their tissues and then YOU EAT IT.
youuuuuuu're an idiot. the vast majority of vegitarians don't eat meat because they think it's gross. not because it's some political stance. eat your meat. more cholesterol for your arteries.
i think vegetarians are really really good for the environment, plus its way healthier, also, apparently hemp seeds provide tonnes and tonnes of protein to your body in perfect proportion, and it gets absorbed into your system way more efficently. so go to the health food store and chow down on those.
so yeah, vegetarians arent pussies, or whatever, theyre doing a good thing by not supporting millions of cows shitting out millions of pounds of shit. ever thought of where all that shit goes? thats alotta shit
ive thought about being a vegetarian. but its way harder to eat properly, even though it is safer and better for you if you do it right
I understand the environmental ramifications of eating meat. For instance, the forests of DRo Congo being destroyed for development and livestock farming creates the same carbon defecit as all the carbon dioxide the UK produced in the last 60 years.
BUUUUUUUUUT!!!!!!!
Meals would be so shit without meat! Just make sure you're eating local produce from the supermarket and fuck McDonalds!
