comp skiing needs a legit structure. ive said this before: main tour, secondary tour, pro-junior tour. especially in the coming years when todays young guns are 25, absolutely killing it way more than 15 and 16 year olds (which isnt so much the case now, as this is such a new sport), it will cure so many issues our sport has.
with a more structured, streamlined set-up, there will be a much greater marketplace for sponsors and then this sport can progress in a good way. good for those who want to ski comps, good for companys who want exposure, meaning good for the overall sport, as they can really pump coin in the right direction.
all we need to do is look at two things: rollerblading and surfing. rollerblading suffered badly from not creating some form of structure, whereas surfing on the other hand, a culture which hated comps, adopted a competitive nature....it still left the door wide open for those who didnt like comps, but created a forward looking structure which ensured longevity.
the sooner skiing can realise this, the better off we all are - both comp and non-comp skiiers
