what are advantages/disadvantages of going bigger? 181 is past my head and my current skis are 170. how much length can I subtract from tip and tail? what is the effective edge length?
i dont get how people would ever consider such getting short skis, if you are over 5'8 get at least a 176, and mount it dead or -2. people rarely regret going to big, but going small you are asking for trouble, plus big is staight baller
bigger skis give you better balance on rails, more stable landings on larger jumps.
They will be slightly heavier and you wont be able to spin as fast for the first day, then its all good.
Just go with the 181. Honestly it's not that big of a difference, you'll get used to it in a day. Plus, you can feel like the man everytime. And when you get some weight put on you'll be glad you skied on something that felt awkward..for a day
